Aston Martin hoping its new DBX will appeal to female buyers
Aston Martin took a first step into the lucrative SUV market on Wednesday with an eye on winning female customers, hoping it can dig itself out of a financial black hole.
Whilst around 10% of the buyers of its signature line-up of sports cars, including the six-figure sum DB11 and Vantage models, are women, half of its customers in China are female, where the firm chose to launch its first SUV, the DBX.

If you’re in the market for a crossover made by a British sportscar company but are concerned about whether your dog can come along, worry no more. Aston Martin had you in mind when they put together the new DBX crossover.
It’s never been simple to take your dog with you in your Aston Martin. Even the brand’s bigger cars like the 2+2 GTs and the four-door Rapide didn’t exactly accommodate a full complement of passengers, let alone a dog. Now, though, Aston Martin has fixed things up with the accessory offerings for their new crossover.
Available from the manufacturer is a “Pet Pack” that bundles together a number of accessories to keep your purebred pup safe, sound, and even clean when you’re out and about in the country doing whatever it is fancy Aston Martin people do with their dogs. Squirrel hunting, maybe? Something like that.
The kit consists of a dog bed, a bumper protector to keep the paint and brightwork free of pawprints and claw scratches, a partition to keep your friends off the fancy leather in the back seats, an Aston Martin-branded leash because of course, and a portable washer that runs off of battery power to give your pup a wash before he comes back in the house. You’re probably not in the market for the DBX if you have to ask how much all of this costs, but I’ll let you know anyway. It’s £2700.00 all-in for the package on top of the MSRP for the car itself. if that’s too steep you can get the pieces a la carte if you so choose.

Aston Martin took the covers off the long-overdue DBX SUV last week which features a Mercedes-AMG sourced twin-turbo V8 but what if you want something more?
Well, Road and Track recently spoke with CEO Andy Palmer at the launch event where he had some interesting things to say but most importantly did not rule out a more angry AMR V12 variant.

Aston Martin opens 'pivotal' St Athan factory
New Welsh factory will build the British firm's vital DBX luxury SUV
The facility, which occupies three converted ‘super-hangers’ that were formerly part of the Ministry of Defence St Athan site, will be the sole global production site for the firm’s vital new luxury SUV. The plant was opened by Palmer and Mark Drakeford AM, the Welsh First Minister.
When full production begins in the second quarter of 2020, around 600 people will be employed at the factory, rising to 750 when peak production is reached.
Palmer said the opening of the plant was “a pivotal day for Aston Martin and a vote of confidence in the UK.” He added: “The opening of St Athan is a hugely important milestone in the company’s growth plan and integral to our ambitions as a global luxury brand with a presence in all major sectors of the market.”

Aston Martin South Africa has confirmed its new DBX will be priced from R3,6-million when it launches locally early in 2020. For reference, the Lamborghini Urus starts at R3 495 000.
That pricing means the new DBX will slot into Aston Martin’s local range above the Vantage V8 and Rapide S but below the DBS Superleggera. In the four-strong DB11 line-up, only the V8-powered coupé will be less expensive than the SUV.
