ASUS reveals SA launch dates for new Android Tablet PCs

Nice to see how Tablets are evolving, like the netbook its filling the need. Personally wanna get one of these babies and mount on the kitchen wall to check the weather and get my recipies from BBC Food.

Pricing on these units will be key to their success or failure in my opinion.

You can buy my elonex etouch 7" android tablet for R1000, it does all that.

Bought it 23 Dec, i don't like it, I prefer my HTC Desire (althougt smaller). Working on a Refund from kalahari.net, but they being stubborn about it only having a 14 day money back blah blah.

PM me if interested.

Can we have a comparison of battery life & processor speeds between the android and windows tablets?

There's not much information or many reviews for these products yet, but the Transformer with the docking station Keyboard looks very attractive.

I love Windows, my signature will attest to that, but Windows Tablets have been horrible in the past and unfortunately no indication that it will be different this time around yet :(

Dude, I have no sympathy for you. If you bothered reading reviews about the product, you would have have known it is an inferior product. Here is an example http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/smartphones/363634/elonex-etouch-1000et. Were you too lazy to google "elonex etouc review"? Don't expect Kalahari to give your money back. Consider it is school fees for a valuable lesson. With a R1000 loss, you got off light actually.

the poor battery life for Windows tablets at the moment is likely more to do with Windows being tied to x86 while Linux/Android can also run on ARM
So with the announcement that Windows 8 will support ARM there is a bit of hope, although it will likely be too late.

Irrelevant as as Windows has higher requirements.

Which is another thing they will have to sort out to compete in tablet form factor. From the consumer's point of view, its going to look like all the windows based tablets are inferior, unless they can fix everything before Win 7 SP1 is released
