doesn't take a genuis to figure it out but here goes, i'll abc it for you.
example :
1. old results recieved with benchmarks :
3200 AMD socket 939 CPU.
video encoding - result X
gaming benchmarks - Result X
rendering benchmark - result X
new results recieved with ATI stream :
3200 AMD Socket 939 CPU.
video encoding - result y
gaming benchmarks - result y
rendering benchmark - result y
ATI stream is directly affecting CPU results in benchmarks and therefore making old benchmarks obsolete.
example 2 :
intel system old benchmarks :
intel coreduo - result x
AMD athlon x2- result x
intel system new benchmarks :
intel coreduo - result x
amd athlon X2 - result y
In new result the intel stayed the same but AMD went up in points. Meaning every single AMD CPU since socket 939 will give higher results with a hd4000 series card. if you re benchmark the whole lot you might find that AMD might just have a lead over the intel CPU's now that they didnt before.
it is really revolutionary that a GPU has the ability to influence a CPU score directly in benchmarks, and the fact that an old CPU can now maybe get a 30% or higher increase in performance is history in itself.
Im not saying that all the AMD CPU's will beat the intel ones, maybe they do and maybe they dont. what i found astonishing is that ATI/AMD has now found a way of increasing performance on their products right across the board going back as far as models that are 5 years old. that is what i meant by AMD changing history. it is really quite an achievement.
it will also be very funny to see an old AMD CPU that was bashed and flamed because of poor preformance suddenly being hailed for the performance boost and beating an intel that previously whipped its butt. -
Keep in mind that ATI stream is open source, and developers will be taking full advantage of it, so most common apps will probly be making full use of the feature.
