ATI Stream Technology with 8.12 Driver unlocked !

No way ATI would make it cpu manufacturer dependant as they would then lose all the possible Intel cpu guys who were going to buy AMD. Way more Intel users than AMD which means massive loss of AMD sales versus Increase in Nvidia sales. Not good business.

Me thinks the op needs to start taking less happy pills and start thinking logically :)

I disagree. AMD/ATI have been moving more and more in the direction of pushing themselves as a complete solution. Look at the way they're packaging Phenom II as part of the Dragon platform. They realise that they can offer synergies when their product is integrated as tightly as possible. And they are finally beginning to become a serious alternative to Intel, since Intel are unwilling to cooperate with Nvidia whatsoever.

okeee so skipping pages 1 -6 and googling the term ati stream wth... its just actually the answer to nvidia's CUDA. Gpu programming as an alternative to using the cpu is quite interesting ;)

but its definitely not going rule out the use of cpu though...

Oh well... There will always be huge hype over new technology that hasn't fully been tested yet. So I actually don't think any insults were really necessary from some of you... Where is the love?

which is exactly what I said earlier on

and just as ShockG and myself said, it would be illogical for ATI stream to be an exclusive feature to AMD cpu's... it is however Exclusive to AMD gpu's just as is CUDA is to nvidia.

However, it's AMD were smart, they would make the ATI stream work far more efficiently on AMD systems(a spider system and the soon to be dragon system) by allowing the cpu to process along with the gpu, that would improve processing power by quite a lot...

AMD will integrate the GPU as another core on the CPU - and intel will copy that.
So therewith is the proof that AMD rulz.

And therefore I rulz.

ok? but that's still a year away... the AMD codename "bulldozer" is only expected to make it's grand opening end of next year/early 2010...
at that same time intel is going to release the full line up of it's "larrabee".

Interesting times... lets hope that AMD can pull another athlon 64 on us and take intel to the cleaners

We don't need to look at the future to see intel copies AMD.
What about EMT64 ? Or the iAMD registers as it is also known ? And what happend to the itanic ? What about integrated memory controllers and true dual cores ? All these fine innovations have been pirated from AMD so you can bet your ass intel will copy AMD with integrated GPU on CPU.

Ok we can make a deal, you rule just as much as AMD ;)

Whatever I have in my pc, RULZ. It doesn't matter the name of the CPU or GPU. We all know enough (well I do) about computers to know what is the best part to buy now. I am sure you won't go buy an AMD when Intel is king of the Hill and visa versa. :D

And what happend to the itanic ?

it sunk. :p

Since AMD/ATI got together we have been seeing some awesome progress AFA 3D Cards are concerned, but CPU-wise, Intel will always be king.

Intel may be faster at times, but I won't support them. They are an evil company that plays dirty. Even if I have to run on a Am386DX40 as opposed to running on intel I'll stick with AMD.

Nvidia on the other hand, apart from killing Voodoo (which was deadish to begin with), is a brand I support from time to time. I try to alternate and now I am on the ATI stage.

This arguing non sense haha like wat sharkbait said wat counts is the best at the moment not past and not future, if a certain brand or component is beta that how it is, so there are only temporary kings. The best part of it all is competition so thankfully both intel and amd have strengths, so all we can do is support both for the futures sack.

No feelings were hurt in the writing of this post.:p

I have almost zero expectations from Larrabee. AMD have done a great job of extracting synergies out of their merger with ATI. ATM they are looking stronger and stronger all the time. Not to mention that i7 is overspecced, overpriced and uninspiring from an enthusiast's point of view.

I guess innovation doesn't sell hardware, copying and improving it and having the faster hardware does sell though... sadly that's how the world works

it's too bad Intel doesn't have a worthwhile GPU offering to compete with AMD on.

Well AMD already did that back in the day when they were under license from intel and they made the Am386DX40 that could out perform some of intels lower speced 486s.
Then intel got nasty (again) and tired to get rid of AMD and stop them from making x86. I think if they look back at all the innovation AMD bought the world of x86 they probably think of it as yet another monumental intel failure

.
Don't worry - they'll copy AMD sometime.

very true, and that's what they hoping to do with larrabee. Intel seems to want to try crush AMD at every move, lets just hope AMD can hold off the beating, they fighting back, and quite hard at that... they seem to be putting a lot of time into there gpu's.

They want to - but they never will cause they know that their own R&D is up to ****. Just look at how they boasted about Itanic and that "the competition might have to close down" because of itanic. Well we all know what happend when AMD made their hammer line up...

Larrabee is vapourware right now. Intel have never made a serious entry into the graphics realm, I doubt that they can pull it off. ATI have years of experience. Larrabee to me seems like a lot of puff from a company who want to distract attention from the lineup of Nvidia. Pity they can't just merge with Nvidia like they should have done years ago.

I do not think it makes sense for Nvidia to merge with anyone. They are a pretty strong company and have been pretty competitive - even though they bought the fairly deadish Voodoo (bless my Voodoo3 2000 16MB). So I do not think they are planning on getting swallowed by the likes of intel.

On the sideline, S3 is doing some nifty stuff and while they would never go above 20% market share I think that they should not be forgotten.
