ATT: Gian | Afrihost Management

again, I have about R87 (3GB account) capped monthly with Afrihost for April--and I am not even using it. For the headaches, it is not worth it. I want to be productive on the internet. I have since then cancelled my account with Afrihost.
 
My 384kbps line is shaped heavily @ 15GB(4KBps) and please don't call me a heavy user FFS Afrihost. The bulk of that usage is from downloading 1 game of steam.
 
I see that Afrihost-Gian last activity on MYBB was on the 1 April around 4:47pm - DAMN ..... he got hit with his own Shaping/Throttling Policies

what do we do now ??? ... since MYBB is a great site what i can suggest is someone maybe sponsor him an mweb account so at least
he can login to MYBB without any connectivity issues..

Heavily throttled at 20GB, doing at an avg. of 10kb/s from even browsing atm.

Lets just say i have had over a dozen people asking me which one of these "uncap" offerings they should go for, since i'm the most knowledgeable about dsl related stuff amongst my friends and family friends, and i referred all of them to Mweb.

I think ppl should move on. No point in badgering this, once everyone's favourite, company. I just hope y'all heavy downloaders join Axxess or Imaginet so that MWEB remains nice and fast. ;)

Girlfriends with .PNG are excluded though. It's a preferred format for 2ch.

Aaah wisdom on the Internet. Not everyone who uses a large amount of bandwidth does so by downloading illegal content. Some of us work remotely, pull down builds of operating systems and other large-scale applications to look for vulnerabilities. Then again, those who deem to mock under an anonymous account are often just than, another anonymous child sitting in front of the computer with little, or no, balls to back up the insult.

That is actually not true, T&C's are subject to change, without notice, at any given time, without any notice needing to be given. The onus is always on the one accepting the T&C's to check them.
T&C's aren't a contract.

Go and check any T&C's, and anyone worth its weight, will state "These are subject to change without notice".

Whilst I don't agree with the changes they went through during sign up, AH did have every right to do so, like anyone who signed up and then noticed a change had a right to cancel due to the change in T&C's.

They even offered a full refund! (Which i made use of)
Personally I've never seen such good customer care!
If you were unhappy and never made use of it..
Well that is your problem..

They did what they have to do, to make their business model work!
And dont think that reselling bandwidth is their only source of income..

Another thing, how in gods name could they not have planned ahead for this?
They are misleading the public and need to be taken to task, it is false advertising whichever way you want to look at it.
By giving refunds is admitting your error.

Another thing, If you only have under 200 posts and are punting Afrihost here, how can you expect to be taken seriously? Seems like a lot of you work for them

I'm still waiting for mine.... I'll send them an email tomorrow - give them till the end of next week, and then lodge a dispute with VISA.
 
Yes we do, I worked for them since WAY before you joined MyBB, they pay me handsomely and with that money I'm going to land my own undersea cable from here that is connected directly with the Pirate Kings server.

Ya so i'm new.. sorry! lol

I'm "punting" them because I was happy with their service.
You as a customer have a choice to use their service or change to someone else
They gave their customers that option + refund!

Looking at the uncapped point you make.
I fully agree that selling some thing as 200GB is not uncapped.
BUT Selling an account where your speeds are limited is uncapped,
albeit that you are limited by speed you wont theoretically exceed a certain *number* of gigs.

The same applies for a non throttled account.
Just to entertain my thoughts I give you the following
Downloading at 400KB/s consistently on a 4 Mbps line
you would only be able to download a certian number of gigs in a month.
Thus you are effectively "capped" as well..
So you can download as much as you want :) but you wont exceed that *number*

AfriHosts *number* is just less than say Mwebs...

I do agree that they should have planned ahead and not prematurely released this untested product, but IMO they made up for this with the refund.
