Why would they do that? You obviously haven't been following the thread from the start.they are probably going to write if off as acceptable consumption.
If I have to take a guess I am pretty sure that its ring lands.
You would need new pistons. compression test will show.
OP got sorted, post #90What were the results of the test OP?

I however have to fight them (initial feedback was that it's my problem due to the age of the vehicle), have to phone them tomorrow. My A3 is 6 years old and 71,000km and some change.
Plus the dealership in question overfilled my oil after the test. Dipstick showing half a cm above the max line!!

Well the excessively high oil consumption is noted and they quoted me 68k for the "recommended repair" to replace the pistons and rings, as well as the bearings and timing chain.SD
What do they say is the problem?
PM'ed you, which you replied toWhich Audi dealership?

Yes, they want me to foot the bill. The car is out of Audi maintenance plan but the question is why is a car with 71k on the clock experiencing engine failure!:crylaugh: Are they fcking stupid, charging those prices? Tsek!
Who is liable for this? You?
Nope. I think as some have mentioned, Audi dealerships really have no clue about certain things!Have you done a compression test - or asked the garage to carry out a compression test and show you the results?
Yes, they want me to foot the bill.
