Won't happen anytime soon. Prodrive is currently the forerunner for the 2 positions in 2008. And I highly doubt Audi has any intention of going into Formula 1 anytime soon.

It would be great...I must say the result on the road from their LeMans experience is certainly entertaining to the eye.

Take you a bet prodrive won't be there next year

I see no reason for Prodrive not to enter. Even if the contract vehicle with Mclaren falls through, they do have the resources to built their own vehicle. They aren't exactly a financially limited organization.

Even if prodrive should fall through, Audi still will not enter into Formula 1. It stated such time and time again in the past. Not even as an engine supplier.

This had been corroborated by the FIA President Max Mosley.

Prodrive have no car, its November already it takes a bit longer to design and test a car, they have no intention of building their own car. Their whole idea is to use a customer car which is now been contested by Williams and Toro....

Toro Rosso cannot object to it, as it's a customer vehicle as well. You mean Spyker which is the only other independent building it's only vehicle. Yes I am well aware of that. Mid season Spyker managed to bring a completely new vehicle into the 2007 season. It is possible to bring in your own vehicle.

Yes it is possible, but I think they have left it too late to design, test and have the car approved before the 2008 season starts.

Mid season Spyker managed to bring a completely new vehicle into the 2007 season. It is possible to bring in your own vehicle.

But Spyker used to be Midland which used to be Jordan , they had the skill and in house talents to do this.

Super Aguri (a new brand new team) on the other hand had to use old Arrows chassis they bought from ex-Mindardi boss Paul Stoddardt in their first season.

Now they using a modified Honda 2006 chassis.

Yes, and Prodrive has the former BAR technical director in it's team, along with many previously employed Formula 1 engineers etc. I'm not saying they'll build a spectacular car. But I'm not saying it's impossible to build a car that passes the initial testing. Not with the kind of talent you have in the paddock and that Prodrive can afford and will use if necessary.

Building a great car takes years of forward progression, an evolution from the previous car to the next....unless you can steal some technical data like Mclaren it won't happen first season, all Prodrive has to aim for is to pass the crash tests. Any forward progress can be made during the season.

Porsche will not enter into a sport that regulates and holds back progress. It pulled out from LeMans for a few seasons precisely for the reason that their Championship winning car (The 917) was deemed "too fast and unsafe"...Audi has no intention despite being on the board of entering in the near future. It will not happen.
