August is WiMax month

Well hopefully some good news, with Neotels "launch" tomorrow in Durban, their coverage is looking even more pathetic then anywhere else in the country.

One question, should I order WiMAX from Vodacom or iBurst, will i still be able to use my own PPPoE username & password? Or will vodacom manage to only provide you with 5GB or 10GB.... If thats the case then i'll stay with telkom wimax...

they going to charge a lot as usal.

Fantastic - finally we are getting somewhere!!

The asymmetric 512 kps option will be great for data, the theoretical total gigs per month will be

512 x 60 = 30720 killobits per minute
30720 / 8 = 3840 killobytes per minute
3840 / 1024 = 3.75 megabytes per minute
3.75 * 60 = 225 megabytes per hour
225 * 24 = 5400 megabytes per day
5400 / 1024 = 5.2734375 gigabytes per day
5.2734375 * 30 = 158.203125 gigabytes per month

yip that right buy a new hardrive cos thats 158 gigs per month!

or you could get the 2.4 megabit per second uncapped connection from Neotel and stand in line for 758.4 gigs per month

or even better you could move to the UK, pay 24 pounds per month for an 8 megabit connection thats 2528 gigs per month for R360.

that 158 gigs is going to cost you about R45 000 per month with vodacom.... give or take a grand!
