Yes thats right. You read correctly.

I'm currently in the final stages of balancing the Pros and Cons of only accepting ONLY donations while running the proxy service. i.e. no mandatory payment.

Now, Questions you might have

Wont this **** up my latency/performance?
No, i play the game too, and there is no way im going to take a performance hit for you scrubs!

Why are you doing this?/OMG NINJA WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO?
In the beginning -> More servers. After that...
Turning this small little wagon into something pretty cool later on is the idea. Like possibly sponsored teams at local lans, free game time,t-shirts,games,free stuff,free beer,more free stuff

How are you going to accept donations?
Currently I am looking into Paypal.

No worries. Write a guide, help code on the client thats in progress(thought it my head atm), do some awesome artwork, donate other stuff(like in the post), host local patches,help out on specs/gems/stuff,provide tips,make videos,design the website, redesign the website.The list goes on and on. No matter how small you think it is, its big enough.

eft would be awesome!! Im in the process of finding a new proxy at this space in time (c wut I did thar) and would rather give my money to someone local that some money grubbing foreign bastard :D
 
ok eft will be an option. im pretty sure i have set up fastpay already or alertpay or whatever the SA version is.
 
I'd like to give this a try, if possible, set me up with an account and if it works for me I'll donate for sure.
 
yeah just need to sort some **** out first, hopefully it'll be ready by the end of the weekend.

the part thats taking a while is writing the client to connect so i dont ahve to explain **** 40 million times, as well as testing the load balancing between the 3 servers to maek sure there is no hit in performance.

I'd like in too please. might have to get a 1month proxy account somewhere as my free trial with reducethelagg is up on friday. fyi dont use them they crap. average latency is 600ms. so if anyone has other options for a free trial somewhere please let me know
 
i have tried some of these services and the free one works like a dream then you think ok SWEET open acc then log on and FFFFFUUU :P
so what im trying to say is i dont mind "donating" on a monthly basis IF it works AND stays consistent...xD

Back when I utilized avert's service, the pings were awesome 290-350ms from 600-700
 
yeha i have 240-260 without proxy, hoping for sub 200 :P

but mostly as data is vpn, it will get highest prioty so my downloads wont effect as much :P
 
ok the server is up, drop me a pm for details. havent gotten around to writing the client, so you guys are on your own there.
Maybe a guide will be up by friday to show you how to use putty + widecap

right, first few details sent.

Feel free to share the login details with friends, multiple logins are allowed.

Also, give some feedback as this is a newly commisioned server.If there are any problems i will resolve it soon(tm).
 
right so i just read

and have decided that if there is enough cashflow, renting a vps locally and routing wow traffic first locally then internationally will reduce the latency significantly(talking sub 200)
It will also provide users a way to play with only using local only bandwidth(if there is still such a thing)

I think that would be quite a sweet thing to achieve, hopefully other companies come to the game and offer cheaper options
