Or am I wrong here? I have 7.5 now, and I saw they stop updates on that 31st May. But now I see there isn't a free version anymore, only a 30 day trail.

30 days with full functionality and support for free

AVG products are available for you to try as fully functional products, with no obligation, for a period of 30 days. During the trial period, you will have full access to all program features as well as access to our Technical Support team.

That's weird, was still free a few weeks ago, wonder if the the one I downloaded will fall under the trail? (still running 7.5 ATM)

AVG 8.0 is free, but in that edition the e-mail scanner facility only works for 30 days.
As many viruses come in via e-mail this makes the free edition useless.

Luckily I use webmail. It's good for all those millions of fscking flash drive viruses I run into.

Yeah, everybody in the world should be using Gmail by now :p

Who needs e-mail scanning ;)

I installed AVG Free edition on Friday, when I got my shiny new Vista laptop.

On Saturday, I had to visit a few sites, cos I 'misplaced' my Nero Premium 7 key. Then in the afternoon I decided, screw this, I'm sick and tired of AVG Free edition's notification bar that pops up - and bought AVG 8 Internet security. It comes to R420.

Well, tonight I decided to do a scan of the laptop and was horrified (but very happy in the end) to find numerous Trojan Horses and other stuff on my laptop. AVG Free edition never picked it up!!

I guess you get what you pay for....I feel safe on the internet now. :)
