Awesome Curry, decent prices

+1 ... they won awards for their food ... not the best decor, but good food ...

I ate there once .... very good food.

What does Bismillah mean ... because I see a lot of places with that same name ...

The Paki places in Fordsburg are also very good value for money places!
Awesome food and very cheap compared to other places.

I had a 400g fillet steak with cheese and pineapple and egg with chicken livers, chips and salad with some naan for R45!!!

And I tucked in on everyones plates, all good food! Total bill for 15 people less than R1000!

Dude ... heads up on location of a good Paki joint ... I am seldom in Fordsburg but will be going there this weekend to collect a Visa ...

The last time (few weeks back) when I was in Durb's I had my driver take me to Patels Curry House for a veg bunny ... that was so good ... I did not wash my hands for a couple of hours just to let the smell be on them for a while .... must admit the place is dodgy, but I have eaten in much worse.

i've tried looking for these places on my garmin and they not listed? suppose i can get street address and punch it in.

Ok, so minor thread resurrection..
But, this place deserves a mention.
Bombay palace in the All saints centre (just down from olivedale clinic) has been given the prestigious gift of serving me the best curry I have had this year!!
The Naan bread was amazing, my vindaloo was hot but in a good, tasty way and the portions were large enough that I had left over for the next day!!

As a curry experience, it is Ridonculous

Orientals in the Workshop (in Durbs) is good... but for the real deal, get a indian aunty to cook it for you at home... what they sell in the shops isn't always the best

According to my sources, they have (or had? not sure) ... errmmm .... hygiene issues. No idea if it was resolved, but I would not go there in a hurry.

Curry Palace in Ferndale is pretty damn tasty and good service, great prices, their vindaloo is good too. There is also a small little place in Parklands centre called Ruchi's best bunny chow you will find, and decently priced makes Lugz look overpriced.

Check what caused the start of this thread :)

The bombay palace seems a spin off from curry palace, but they definitely have someone different doing the curries.....its curry palace + 10

I know, was just checking the tick box again for them, I wonder if the same guys run the Bombay Palace, I know the one dude went from the Curry Palace to somewhere else.

it looks like the same menu, so i would assume so...but like i said, the curry is definitely made differently.....I was a regular at CP and its definitely different

Hmmm must try it out, got to remember every place has a different dude cooking so the recipes might be similar but will always taste slightly different.

Goundens off Sydney road is by far the best place to get bunnies in Durban IMO at least :D What I don't like about a lot of the places is their quarters are made from normal loaves of bread so every 2nd bunnie you get has it's bottom cut off so it gets soggy and falls through. Goundens use loaves specifically made for bunnies.

You live in P-town now? I thought you lived in JHB?

Or am I going mad?

No no. We moved 3 months ago. Now I find places like Cactus creek closed.. and ohter restaurants not as good as I remember.

NEed to start all over again :D

IN PTA?

I need curry :(
you going to struggle to find a decent curry that side of the boerewors curtain

[wait I lie - there's a great spot out near silver lakes ... one tends to forget that is even a part of PTA :) - can't remember the name right now, but it's in a shopping centre as you turn off to the golf estate from Lynwood]
