Hi all,

After reading the post about the new axxess voucher features (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=102829) I purchased a prepaid axxess voucher (1GB) for R70 with the view of converting it to 5.8gb's of local-only bandwith. I had a pre-existing voucher account, I used this to login to the website at engen.adsl.co.za and then topped up my account using the newly purchased voucher. The account topup was successful however there is no option for me to convert the 1GB into local-only 5.8gb's.

Are they still busy implementing the feature to convert bandwith to local-only on the engen.adsl.co.za website or have I just lost 70 bucks?

I contacted the helpdesk, the guy on the other end said that I need to now purchase a local-only account from the axxess.co.za but I still would Not be able to transfer the 1GB voucher into that account to convert it to 5.8gb's local bandwith.

So basically I'm stuck with a 1GB voucher that cannot be converted to local bandwith even though I haven't used a single bit of the 1GB bandwith?

Axxess, if you're on this forum, please help asap!

I thought the prepaid voucher account was a prepaid account and didn't know there was a difference between prepaid accounts purchased from the axxess website directly and prepaid accounts purchased from Engen garages.

Anyways, I hope there will be a feature on the Engen ADSL website allowing me to convert the 1GB into 5.8GB local.

Please Axxess, please develop a feature such as that above? I don't need the international 1GB access, only require 5.8GB local, and would hate to have wasted R70 bucks on 1GB when I could've had 5.8GB local. :(

Should I just wait for the engen adsl website to be updated with this transfer feature or would I still have to purchase another voucher in order to use the transfer feature? ie. can the transfer be made after the account has been topped up but before any bandwith has been used from the voucher.

This is starting to look to me like it's not really what it says it is.

My understanding of the whole pre-paid voucher thing was;
- You buy a voucher
- You change the user name and password on your router
- You start using the internet

I've now dug around on the Axxess site and it seems the real process is:

- Get an Axxess Local Only prepaid account (min. R12/m - 1gb)
- Buy a voucher
- Load voucher onto your account
- change user name and password
- start surfing

This is certainly a lot different from what everyone assumes the pre-paid voucher should do.

Just quoting from the Axxess site:

What is required?

1. Normal ADSL line. We support any ADSL line speed up to 4Mbps.
2. ADSL Router/Modem (Any make or model)

This is clearly not true, since you need a Axxess local only pre-paid account as well.

<off topic>
Am I the only one that find the concept of a pre-paid account a little amusing? 'Pre-Paid' and 'Account' seem to be mutually exclusive to me. You're either paying up front or your running an account....

Doesn't most ISPs work like that, you have an 'account', but you first have to pay before you can use it, so 'pre-paid'?

No, I can buy a voucher for MTN / Vodacom pre-paid data without having to open an account.

This whole situation sucks:mad:

I don't have a local only account with the axxess website. The only usernames (which I thought constituted "accounts") I have are the ones on the vouchers I purchased. If I try and login to the customer control panel on axxess.co.za, I get "invalid username and password" (since I don't have an account with them), thus cannot convert the bandwith into local-only (since it is only the axxess.co.za CCP which has the transfer feature, not the group stores CCP ie engen.adsl.co.za).

However, if I login to the engen.adsl.co.za website with my username and password, I can get in, BUT, there's no "transfer" feature for me to convert the 1GB which I topped my account up with to 5.8GB local only.

So my question to Axxess is, if I just leave that account idle, will I be able to convert it later on into local bandwidth (remember that I already topped up my account with the voucher, but have not used any of the bandwith ie. 0% usage) once, if ever, a transfer feature is implemented such as that on the axxess.co.za CCP?

If so, please provide an estimate as to when this feature will be implemented.

You were querying the term "pre-paid account", so I'm just saying that it makes sense, cause I have an account and still have to pay before using it, thus pre-paid. But yes, if you look at how the cellphone companies implement it, then it can become confusing.

Can't you just sign up for an account with them (without purchasing any bandwidth)? I'm sure this is what I did... I signed up, then bought vouchers from Pick'n'Pay.

That would get you into the axxess CCP, where you might be able to transfer the bandwidth?

Thanks for your message Cathryn, but it's too late since I already topped up my prepaid account via the engen.adsl.co.za website and thus cannot (according to the helpdesk) use the voucher again on the axxess.co.za website after purchasing a prepaid local only account with them, I would have to purchase ANOTHER R70 voucher and the previous R70 voucher is then wasted (stuck to using it 1GB international).

I sincerely hope they implement a feature to convert topped-up bandwith into local-only bandwith via the engen adsl website.

Well, the axxess dude in the other thread hinted that they are working on something along those lines. I ended up EFTing money to achieve the same effect.
