Axxess fixed LTE (Telkom)

@Captain Axxess and anyone reading this.

Nice surprise with the data / pricing adjustments !

Had previously set my SIM to cancel end of November, but have now decided to not only stay but up the package & probably increase it next month again.

Thought it was only Afrihost that had received the improvements, but Axxess' just took a bit longer to implement, it seems.

I like the fact that the data now correlates back to what Telkom provide / provided for their LTE prepaid, so I should get the amount ordered - as a reminder, once ordered 50 + 50 but got 40 + 40 (as that was also then Telkom's standard offering), so had to 'fight' for the extra 10 + 10 for 2 weeks, eventually added as Top Up's by a supervisor.

Telkom LTE via Axxess - 22nd Oct 2021 :

20 + 20 = R 159
40 + 40 = R 219
60 + 60 = R 299
90 + 90 = R 399
130 + 130 = R 519
180 + 180 = R 699
300 + 300 = R 899

Telkom LTE via Axxess - 25th Dec 2020 (pricing until very recently, when last checked, before today) :

10 + 10 = R99
30 + 30 = R199
50 + 50 = R299
70 + 70 = R399
90 + 90 = R499
120 + 120 = R699
220 + 220 = R999

@Captain Axxess - just sent this in a ticket from my profile - sure you can find it as I've pasted in the time as well, it was submitted ; when are you guys going to resolve the Telkom usage updates issue ?
It's been problematic since I rejoined you at Axxess for capped LTE, a few weeks ago.

Client – 2022-07-01 07:55:15

Hi there, I see online there's currently no data usage showing.

I'd like to also point out that within your Android app, it's currently only showing the 80 + 80 GB total of 160 GB which is this month's (July's allocation).

Therefore, the June Telkom LTE Anytime data isn't yet reflecting in my profile, within the app.

Pls. ensure it's sorted out correctly when you get to show the allocation and totals, both online and within your app.

I still don't know why you persist in reflecting your own usage figures for Telkom LTE, when their systems update it instantaneously.

I have screenshots from my phone available if needed ; in the meantime, will wait until you update online to see what's reflecting, if & when you're able to because since I've been back with you, it's only worked some of the time in June.

I'm aware of your notification that Telkom usage figures aren't updating, but well over 2 weeks is rather ridiculous, isn't it?

Hi there,

Hi there,

Please send me the Ticket ID or the account number.
I've just sent a private message with my account number, added to which I typed, as well :

"Maybe it's not a system wide issue though your notification from the 9th June is still showing re delays in Telkom LTE usage figures."

....ao I don't understand what you'll gain from reviewing my account, alone, because you at Axxess have acknowledged it's ongoing for 3 weeks already.

I'm surprised no-one else has highlighted it on the forum, but maybe I'm the only customer using Telkom LTE through Axxess, or others don't make use of the forum.

Either way, I hope it'll be resolved soon.

I'd personally rather rely solely on this - onnet.telkom.co.za - which is what @AfriNatic hands out to their clients.

Just as easy with router on & Telkom SIM inserted - no delays with the true figures of available data reflected.

At Axxess, because of your pro-rata calcs for when one signs up during the month, from what I can determine (when I've been able to view your data usage), you tend to deduct up to 1.5 GB sometimes from each of Telkom's Anytime and Night data ; Telkom on the other hand appear to allocate 1,024 MB per 1 GB, so those add up in the end, the higher the package bought ...

... whereas at Axxess you allocate a strict 80 GB / 80,000 MB.

That's why I think there's a difference.

Hope understandable, but a side affect because of how you reflect data from Telkom

I would've stayed with Afrihost if their rates had been as competitive as yours for the 2 packages I'm interested in - 80 and 120 GB.

I await your feedback.

Got this reply about 17h15 by email :

"Kindly be advised that this is an issue that Telkom is still busy with, engineers are currently working on the matter."

So, it's taken Telkom (?) / Axxess (?) "engineers" 3 weeks to get .... nowhere !

They just don't want to give up on this failed part of their system, especially when there's a perfectly good functioning one provided by Telkom themselves.

What do they at Axxess get out of continually hitting their heads against walls, over this !?
.... except headaches.

So, not even http://onnet.telkom.co.za
is working since last night (at least) that I can determine, to easily see data usage (tried Brave browser and Google search - same Chromium based engine, I know.

No use in even checking Axxess' app or on PC.

Next step to try USSD code either via router, or after putting the SIM in a phone.

EDIT : the web link opened momentarily, by mistake it seems, in Google search but at the time I was using Afrihost / MTN mobile, so data use still couldn't be checked.
. After switching to Telkom fixed, the page won't load again - unpredictable at best. Screenshot_2022-07-02-08-35-19-747_com.android.chrome.jpg

@Captain Axxess

I have screenshots of my usage from a few minutes after midnight (3rd July).

Checked for updates now in the app, and exactly the same figures & total available showing - approx 18 hours later.

So, although your service is now reflecting something, it's absolutely useless information all these hours later.

Again, in other words, if you at Axxess are so adamant you have to provide clients with Telkom LTE usage figures, then I feel strongly that you should ensure they update timeously - not approaching 24 hours ... and especially when your figures don't even match the source, being Telkom (due to your pro-rata cost - data ratios you work on, depending on when sign-up takes place, not to mention subsequent months).

Doesn't matter if it's the weekend, I don't believe this works (properly) more than half the time, and certainly hasn't for 10% of it since signing up last month.

I must be the only one using Telkom LTE through yourselves, so even more reason to not waste your time on this part of the system, and resort rather (along with your client/s) to relying on onnet.telkom.co.za which is at least available most of the time.

Don't get me wrong, I'm satisfied with the vast majority of the platform ; just this is infuriating to me because you can easily resort to how @AfriNatic & Co (at your parent company) handle it, and that's to direct clients to onnet.

I sent you my A/c # via PM last week, so you should still find it if you need to take a look at the profile.

I'll be amazed if you respond to this in any meaningful way ....

Have sent a reply to the original ticket in the last few minutes.

After more than 28 hours, all you show is the INCORRECT total of data available ; the (incorrect) data breakdowns in the app are once again gone.

Hate to be so cynical, but are your "engineers" working on this broken updating system, still, after almost a month ?

I'll happily "eat my words" if & when you can get it right, even close to 100% of the time, but until then ....

Telkom's onnet link meanwhile, continues to update my usage instantaneously, or close to it.

I am amazed.

Not for any feedback, both here and to my ticket reply this morning.

But for the fact usage allocation has updated to 9h42 this morning, now.

Have to login to the web portal to see last date & time data figures updated, because the app no longer shows that detail.

It used to, last time I was with Axxess / Telkom LTE around a year ago.

Hopefully figures will continue to update for more than 5 minutes .... seriously, 2 or 3 days updates at a time I'll count as a win.

This is like having my own dedicated thread, to simply report related things, and perhaps things happen in the background as a result ? ... along with the tickets submitted.

There's one other thing to do with their app that's missing, but for now will see how long this lasts before tackling that issue.

Rollover data's stopped updating again.

Screenshot in app taken just before 12 noon has same value as one from a few minutes ago, so without bothering to log in again via the web, approx 11 hours since I last noticed figures updated by Axxess from Telkom.

@Captain Axxess has disappeared ; they needn't bother with a rep over here, because all he / she / it ever does is ask for an account / ticket number, then you never hear from the "so and so" again, while they try fix the problem/s back at base camp.

@Captain Axxess - last seen Friday 3pm, so either a total "no show" or my guess, lurking in the background reading the comments offline.

What a contrast to (parent Co) Afrihost on the same forum.

Considering other options, even at this early stage back with them, if they won't listen to reason.

EDIT - just rated the ticket as "no" wrt query as to whether I'd employ the agent who dealt with the query - the only question they ask.

That's not the question to be asking, because the agent/s can't fix the issue, only their "engineers" can, or can't, as in this case.

So I'm really directing my "no" at the Axxess "engineers" and @Captain Axxess over here for absconding.

Found in another thread (copy & link pasted below), on my travels within the forum .... from which I take for this thread :

"Mod_note: These threads are clearly designed/intended for customers to provide feedback to their respective ISPs - not for disgruntled former customers to vent, not for other ISPs to promote their services, etc - and, one hopes, for the relevant ISP to respond."

"... threads .... designed/intended for customers to provide feedback to their respective ISPs"

..... which is what I've been doing for almost a week, already, this time around ;

".... one hopes, for the relevant ISP to respond."

...... one can only live in hope for even some mediocre feedback ; Axxess I've found out 1st hand, are absolutely useless in this regard.

They had been updating usage for about the last 3 days, up to almost midnight of the 8th July, but since then, nothing.

Continues to be an unreliable broken, Axxess system.

Thanks very much @Yuu for all your input - first & only MyBB member to show any concern to this point.

In the coming days, will attempt to make contact with their dev's (currently have quite a bit going on which I'd like to get out the way, first ; maybe towards the end of this week I'll be in a position to tackle it).
I'd be surprised if all the dev's in that tab are all still employed by them at the moment ; if so, it should be even more embarrassing they have so many, and can't get this seemingly simple thing right.

As mentioned above, I've no (major) problem/s with Telkom LTE as a service, so Axxess' part in the "grand scheme" of it is relatively minimal - it would be preferable if they could either get their act together, or simply forget about their usage figures & direct clients to Telkom's "onnet".

At least there is Telkom's ''onnet'' available, but it doesn't mirror Axxess' figures, and sometimes, Axxess' figs. are 2GB or more, lower, than Telkom's, for Anytime alone. That's another angle to this issue, but if they can start updating usages more regularly, every few hours like they used to (around a year ago), then that'll be a start.

@Yuu - an update ..... Axxess seem capable enough now to reflect haphazard updates (ie. not the same time, by any means) each day.

While far from perfect, it's acceptable enough for my purposes.

However, if MyBB staff want to do an article after their own investigating, perhaps, I'll certainly be in favour of it ; the more publicity, the better.

I'll be sure to add to my Axxess ticket & post more here again, should they falter more than they currently are.

Thanks again.

Just for the sake of it, posting what I just sent to Axxess in the ongoing ticket :

"It's no longer updating client side, yet again.
Can you get your dev/s to sort it out, if they even can (?) or let clients know to rely only on onnet.telkom.co.za to get usage figures."

They wrote back in the ticket yesterday after it was sorted out, again :

"Good Day

Please be advised that the issue regarding Telkom has been resolved.

Please see the attachment.

Kind Regards

Axxess Support"

I've responded in the last few minutes :

"From what I can gather, it gets resolved and when it continues to work, which hasn't been much over the last month, it either fails to update usages entirely [after a certain amount of time, I should've added] (until worked on again) or at best, it stumbles along so updates are at most, once a day.

When I last used this Telkom LTE service through [you at] Axxess (a year ago, approximately), usage updates were every few hours from what I remember.

What's happened since, to affect this part of the service so negatively?"

EDIT :
Their app doesn't list this info, so had to go online via laptop to the website :

Last Updated: 2022-07-13 00:02:44
(am)

... therefore, already over 12 hours now since they last updated their figures.

.. now 24 hours ago ; when I refreshed the web interface soon afterwards, got no values at all so maybe they're busy updating again.

But one never can tell with Axxess, because it can simply mean it's stopped working altogether & won't see anymore usage updates for hours .... or days .... yet again.

It's the only thing i dislike about Telkom capped LTE through Axxess.

EDIT : usage figures through Telkom's 'onnet" continue to update pretty much flawlessly, from what I can determine.

Reply I received, in response to my latest addition to the ticket :

This is in response to ticket: Telkom LTE - usage updates, created on 2022-06-14 12:04:29

"Thank you for Contacting Axxess Support.

Telkom Engineers are working on updating the usages as soon as possible. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused."

Where have I heard that one before (!) or that Axxess "engineers" are working towards solving ir, but at least they bothered responding.

Just checked online web portal again, and 'Available = ", "Used Data" sections are still totally blank.

@AfriNatic - do you, or others at Afrihost, not have any authority over decisions made at Axxess?

I've been suggesting for weeks now, that they drop their failed Telkom capped LTE updating system, but they still persist.

Can you not get them to replace it with the way you operate at Afrihost (ie. clients to check themselves using "onnet" from what I last saw you write in a forum post) ?
@Captain Axxess
(for what it's worth)
