My MTN LTE Huawei B525 router is running off a inverter and battery, so in actual fact I should not be affected by Load Shedding.

But the MTN tower is affected due to either no battery back up or the tower does not have battery backup.

The light on my router shows red during load shedding, I assume because of the tower has no power..

When the power comes on the red light will not turn to blue, WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

I have to call Axxess and this takes ages due to High call volumes or try to get it going on the router settings myself.

Surely there is an explanation for the router not changing to blue or resetting so that I can browse

Please explain and help me to understand this

I think its because when your connected tower shuts off during the load shedding your router attempts to connect to another tower, which isn't allowed with mtn's fixed lte service so it gets your connection blocked by axxess automatically. That's my guess i'm not a professional tho

Have you manually tried rebooting the router after power is restored and ensuring the correct APN profile is selected.

Perhaps the connection to tower isn't being automatically restored for some reason ( it should in all honesty though..)

I have done it this way but who in his right mind wants to reset the router to get connected each time we have load shedding, two times a day, jikes

Send it to me haha. No you should be able to use it on another ISP

Weird and strange things happen.
We had Load shedding today and the blue light remained on all the time.
Hope it stays that way from now.... Am I asking to much? haha

Email sent :To the CEO and Founder of Axxess, Franco and Andrew,

This is my second email on this matter sent to Axxess as below.

The reply on the first email was what I had to do, I know what to do.ie: to check my settings OR reset ( and my settings are correct as previously set by Axxess )

This is not what I asked in my email, I need to know why this is happening and get it fixed once and for all

I now have to reset my router each time we have load shedding to get my router started, this is a load of crap.

I need this email to get to the highest level to action the problem.

I am aware load shedding is causing problems but I am on battery power at home, the red light should turn to BLUE once power comes on.

IF THE PROBLEM IS WITH AXXEESS THEN SEE TO IT

IF THE PROBLEM IS WITH MTN THE GET THEM TO CORRECT IT, OPEN MY MTN ROUTER TO ACCESS DIFFERENT TOWERS THEN MY ROUTER MAY CONNECT AS I AM STUCK ON ONE TOWER AS SET UP WHEN I APPLIED WITH MY ADDRESS ( THIS TOWER MAY HAVE BATTERY BACKUP PROBLEMS….)

I NEED THE SERVICE WORKING FOR WHAT I AM PAYING.

Regards

You go to some really unnecessary extremes in my opinion. If this is causing you so much grief in your life, why not explore other, better options?

You do know that you have options right?

When you say it does not go blue. Does it not come back on immediately or does it not come back on at all?

What if you wait 2 hours, does it come back on then?

The problem might be between the router and the PC. Then no matter what options you explore it won't help. Don't have enough information, but first OP need to find out if the problem is Axxess or MTN.

When the power goes off here I sometimes only get Internet 2 - 4 hours after loadshedding is. This is not Axxess or Afrihost fault.

And some of us (fortunately) stay connected during LS...no consistency.

Usual crap with no explanation or feedback from ISP's.

But what can the ISP do? They have no control over what happens at the towers.

Does that absolve them from giving feedback or advising their clients who are inconvenienced and have no access to their service?
No. Certainly not.
That's the whole problem in this world...that bit of courtesy and decency is mostly non existent.

What the hell. The whole damn country is loadshedded. There is no way they can tell which towers are all effected specially to such a massive scale. What planet do you live on?

If anything at all it is MTN's responsibility to create monitoring and report applications for their Network. The ISPhas ZERO control over this.
