Axxess & p2p..throttling?

I have been getting simpler problems lately my torrents seem to crawl sometimes between 5-10k and others between 20-30k. They always use to be @ 50k. Its very odd. Im with AYCE but it makes no differance as they are a reseller.

I think its saix, in the day its especially slow! over the weekends it seems much faster!

It should ONLY be shaped when other traffic requires more bandwidth !

Impossible to implement.

Simple, screw SAIX and find a way around their limitations !

I am VERY happy that SAIX is now doing this ... in fact screw all the P2P leeches and warez and script kiddies and their p0rn and warez soaking up all the bandwidth.

Viva SAIX ... Viva !!! ;).

rofl.. you mentioned just about everything thats available on the internet tibby.dude.

Tell me what do you use the internet for? Browsing and looking at your router blinking every few seconds?

Bollocks - I'm trying to use bandwidth I'm paying for. If I'm paying for 30gb then I'm entitled to 30gb of what I want. Its not like uncapped. Why should your bandwidth be any more important than someone elses?

And before we had napster and P2P people still used the internet.

VPN to work
CVS
email
browsing
ftp

If you paid of a single 384K pipe for yourself all the way to New York then I would agree with you.

No - I pay for 30gb of bandwidth and thats what I'm entitled to. I'm not expecting any more or any less. Its a different argument from the uncapped offerings where you can make the argument about how much you're entitled to - I'm concerned about a finite amount.

You just don't get it, do you ?

I won't bother explaining because it'll turn into another pointless tibby argument that ends up with you calling people morons or getting in a hissy fit, as usual.

Wel, this shaping sucks for me...

i'm having to sit and watch my Everquest 2 download at less than 3Kb/s.... And i'm on 192k....

Really not fair that they should shape my game updates....

:(

if tibby's argument was at all valid, why do we even have internet when thinking with his mindset. What are we entitled too with the price we paying, tibby.dude?

Yes I do bb_matt ... it all ties in with contention ratio's which means higher priority for the normal Internet traffic which is what most folks use.

And if you want to do P2P then by all means cough up the $$$ for an unshaped account.

Why should I subsidise your 'illegal' habits ... downloading 30GB of Linux distro's on a monthly basis dude ???.

Heck it is like asking cigarette smokers to help pay for dagga smokers.

I have a 10GB account.

So here, you do it again pulling fact from thin air and use it in your arguments simply because you are incapable of debating or discussing like an adult.

You immediately jump on the offensive and start speculating what other people are doing.

It does you no favours.

Hmm odd ... does Sony not have ftp or http for game updates ???.

So you deny it then ???.

Come on .. lets play open cards here ... what exactly are you downloading via P2P ???.

Surprise me as I have already mentioned in another posting what I used BitTorrent for.

Deny that I've got a 30gig account and am lying about the fact that I'm downloading 30gig of Linux distributions ?

Yep, I deny that.

I'm not here to parlay with you tibby.dude, this is a discussion about throttling that your derailing - if you've got any beef with me, send a PM.

tibby.dude - you're clearly just a little opinionated wanker, and a troll, trying to turn this thread into being all about you and your opinion..
However - back to the topic -
I notice a DEAFENING silence from the other resellers of Saix bandwidth (to Axxess's credit, they at least posted their search for answers, and Telkom's response) it might be very interesting at this point, for adsl users with other resellers, to take the time to immediately mail their ISP's and ask them about this fairly unacceptable throttling of a standard Internet protocol - and post the various resellers replies here on forum, so we can see how this is being handled - both by Saix, and the different resellers, to their customers.. (Never pass up the chance to learn something. Unless of course you're talking to 'tibby.dude' - in which case there's nothing to be gained :)

And look at how all the P2P leeches start debating my supposed personality type while in denial of their law breaking.

How funny :).

And never one to waste an opportunity for verbal diarrhea.

p2p includes more than torrents or downloading. Skype for one is p2p - should that be shaped? I'm sure telkom would say yes.

The fact is you're not subsidizing anyone - you're paying for a finite amount of data - say 30gb - and I'm paying for mine - also say 30gb. It makes no difference what gets downloaded or uploaded as I'm as entitled to mine as you are to yours.

If bb_matt wants to download 10gb of linux distro’s then why not – he paid for it. If I want to upload edited video, by any means I see fit, to a colleague in Oz then why not?
