got off the phone with support, they confirmed that max we can expect over http is about 300k/sec and lowest 100-150kb/sec (not that i've got close to that) and that p2p is on lowest priority and will basically never work well.
I was expecting similar performance to the mweb account but seems like they are not offering that level of service with this product. I think they should update their site to reflect this.
Luckily I still have my WA 30GB special and I think I'll just wait a couple more months for the dust to settle. I think WA may actually have been onto something with their much maligned unsustainable comment.

I also called them and told them I want to cancel, I told him that I registered yesturday, and that I wanted it working for today, but its not. and that I want it cancelled immediately - he said ok. but lets see what happens... : )

where did you sign up? do they bill you monthly from sign-up date? How does it work? What line speed do you have?

Well im sad to say there is a world of difference between this and their old uncapped accounts. Torrents and Rapidshare are limited to about 256kbs, whilst on there old uncapped after hours i was getting full 4meg line speed. Unfortunatly, i get content via torrents, so this might not work. I was hoping it would be less shaped after hours. Guess im stuck for the month.
Skype to NZ with video both ways was great, youtube and other HTTP is also great. This account might have its place, but at just under R500, I dont think it will appeal to many casual users if you cant get semi unshapped after hours

i'm getting way slower than 256 on p2p - rapidshare at 6kb/sec
I moved to Axxess from Afrihost today, as Afrihost have got some shaping from 60gb etc. But with this slow speed I get from the Axxess account I doubt if I will get halfway to the 60gb mentioned in the new Afrihost T&C's for the April month. Looks like I made a mistake moving from Afrihost, at least their account was flying at full speed for the first 60gb's...... It appears I will have to try Afrihost, Axxess and Mweb myself and them make a call after 3 months...

Im getting the kbs's all messed up, im getting about 15-20 kB/s on torrents and 5kB/s on rapidshare.... Sucks much. Why cant they have it unshaped/semi unshaped afterhours?
They're probably scared half to death of line rape? I'm guessing the silence from telkom is them sussing out the situation - maybe a come back from their side is in development.
Imagine this - Uncapped Semi Shaped and Unshaped 4096 packages (with no hidden limits) for R400 and R450. Do - that, Telkom!
Guy at Axxess asked why I wanted to cancel, and I explained that browsing is Ok, but all downloading is very slow.
He informed me that the uncapped account is shaped and not for downloading..... again, I wish I knew more about this before signing up!
He then said "use a port forwarder, forward to an open port, that's what I do".....

I got that port forwarding advice too, don't need to go through that hassle.
excuse my lack of knowledge, please elaborate. To forward a port for what? P2P? In uTorrent and Alt Binz my ports are forwarded and it still doesn't go over 10kB/s

Um, you should make sure you're not billed for the 15th to the 31st on MWEB. Their policy is pro rata for anytime after the 15th to pay half of the month, and the next month in advance.
