Yep, also noticed I wasn't getting full speed on HTML max. I noted was 33k. In the low end of the speed market that other 9-12k is pretty frikken important.
Normal downloads/updates shaped down to 20k (I noted a burst to 27k & a drop to 13k on average)
I'm waiting for my ticket response from them though ???
@ Kosmik: I'm basically saying that I was better off working on the normal per gig story.....my point is that aside from emailing there is no point, unless they change their secret policy that is.
It's actually pretty gross cause I feel like not being a part of this whole ADSL story it has put me right off.
When I see a decent & bright enough light I will be off in that direction which will include my current & future business![]()
Shaped accounts cannot compete with unshapped per gig bundles. The only true comparison of that is uncapped unshaped which is still round the R2000 mark. Http downloads as you call them are going to be shaped as the packet is analysed as a file packet and not pure web. Also the system has intelligence in that most web pages themselves are small and any packet or stream of packets from a port 80 address can be flagged and dealt with accordingly.
If you are using it for work, then yes , use a per gig bundle rate for the day unshaped, even vpn'ed you shouldn't use that much or go uncapped unshaped @ 384k for R450 if you really need the uncapped part. If you expected the account to be usable in the day for anything else besides browsing or email, then you have a misconception.
