Hi Guys

I have a 384 line and currently use Digichilli but have had enough now and want to upgrade to a 4mb line.

Already spoke to Telkom and my line can be upgraded to a 4mb line.

I am going to get the uncapped option from Axxess for R999

Should I wait till the end of the month and get the axxess or will the pro-rata me for the rest of the month?

I can't seem to find many posts on mybb regarding Axxess, hopefully the people who have the Axxess uncapped option are so busy downloading they don't have time to post problems on mybb.

Hope to hear your views on this. :):):)

Not too sure, but why not give them a call ? could be better than waiting for a answer!

Ok this is from axxess's site

This is a monthly billed account and you will be charged on the 1st of every month.
Even if there is no usage on the account you will still be charged.
No Pro-rata will be applicable.
1 months notice is required when cancelling.
ADSL Line rental is not included in this service.

You can go to the website, fill in the application online and there will be a place where you can select only starting from the beginning of the next month saving you a lot of hassle.

no you cant go pro rata, but i signed up on the 20th of the month last year and downloaded 120GB in that period, so it was still worth it.

Despite all the price cuts and new products hitting the market, this is still the best deal out there for 4Mb connections. The only enhancement I would like to see is the rolling threshold being applied to peak hour usage only. So you have 20-30GB to use during peak hours, and once you exceed the peak hour usage, only then is the connection throttled. After hours, off course, is always uncapped. A price cut would be good too.

So come on Axxess, Afrihost, WebAfrica, Openweb, whoever, speak to IS. It is a relatively small tweak, but would make this product so much more attractive. It would be only account you ever needed.

My 2 cents, Axxess Uncapped+ is great. I was with Digichilli before as well. And I'm Happy now

There is no package out there better than Express + ... I am soo happy with it.

The reason why you don't see any axxess threads speaks for itself - the service and products are GREAT!!! Been with them from day one and have never looked back.
Still the cheapest Gb/R out there - even if it is after hours. Paid just over R2.00 a Gig last month ;)

Afrihost, WA, whatever....... can kiss my a**!! AXXESS FTW!!!

+1 Tango :D

Axxess Uncapped Express+ is great, i play COD MW2 and its sweet + the downloads :D

I agree with the posts above. Its the one ISP you shouldnt be dissapointed with!
Their service levels are great, 24/7 and you will get your money's worth with the Uncapped expressed +.
It would however be nice if they can upgrade that account some more since prices are generally falling.

I would like to see, throttled to 384 during business hours with a 30 gb rolling threshold. What would make it really awesome is a price like R599.
I know its great great package already, but R899 is just above my budget. If it had to be R599, i would become a waiter or just use my brains a little bit more at my job to make sure i have this service. :P

Go Axxess!

it's a great package only in the context of the south african broadband environment.

i like it. i have had it for more than 6 months. but tbh i still want far more from my internet experience. especially when paying R999.

guys, let me get this straight...if u have a 4mb line like me, you can get the 384 account and get full speed after 8 pm daily and during the weekend?
how is it ? ( asking ppl with 4mb line on 384 account )

thanks!

After hours and weekends are unthrottled, unshaped, and limited only by your line speed.

thats correct.... and it is from 7:15PM to about 9PM when you are unthrottled :)

Yip, till about 9AM. My speed after hours have never been lower than 450kb/s, which is basically the quickest the 4mbps are capable off. My usage are tapering off dramatically after the first month of so when I was doing in excess of 500gb per month. But after a while you realise you don't need to download the hole internet in case you need it in the future. I would say my usage are now back to "normal" with about 100gb per month, which is still a very cheap R10/gb.....

Axxess Express + Issues

I wonder if someone out there has had a similar issue to what I am experiencing.

I have recently had my line upgraded from 512k to "4mb" (well more like 2.5mb), on the weekend that it was installed ran perfectly, no issues, downloads, torrents, the whole lot. Jump to Monday night 8pm, SLOW AS HELL, my Tomato Router reports that not even HALF the line is being used yet I have tons of downloads downloading. The funny thing is the ping, STABLE to both international and local 40ms local, +-300ms international, a speed test comes back with between 0.08mb/s to 1.7mb/s internationally, local remains untested.

I have a shaping application installed on the entire network called CFos, worked 100% on the 512k line and on the initial weekend of the "4mb" line, if my pings start fluctuating (which they DON'T), the app restricts bandwidth ensuring a lovely low ping throughout the network.

Has anyone else experienced this issue before. Axxess has also been contacted (no response yet)

A quick update, last night I tried to update the Magic Online client on the "4mb" line, it kept on timing out. I am now at work using their business ADSL account (unshaped, uncapped 512k) and no issues, no timeouts, nothing. This account is also an Internet Solutions product. What the heck is going on ?

I will run more tests this weekend, perhaps its a weekday thing.

Thanks

L*R

Also on a 4 Mbps connection with Axxess Uncapped Express+. For the last 4-5 months. Loving it. Not having to worry about a cap changes the way you use the internet, very liberating (and no more hoarding). I'd also like to see the rolling average to apply to office hours only or to increase the daytime speed to 384. R599 sounds right too.

If I may hijack this thread for a moment ... I have a Intel Atom PC dedicated to the task of downloads. I wanted to use it as a gateway with some proxy software to give priority to other PC's on the LAN whenever they needed internet access, e.g. my laptop or gaming PC. I hate having to manually pause my downloads when I need some speed. I want the download PC to use everything available when there's no traffic but to be the lowest priority when other PC's need it. But after trying various options for a few days I failed and gave up. Can you guys recommend a Windows app that I can use to do traffic shaping?
