Axxess: Wtf is going on?

I don't know much about the interwebz and all it's intricacies. I don't know much about SA ISP's and backbones and all that jazz either.

What I do know, however, is that I'm not getting what I'm paying for. I'm subscribed on 384 uncapped unshaped with Axxess, but various speedtests in the middle of the day, for the last week, showed an average download speed of 90kbps. My upload speed is actually quicker.

During the whole of today I've downloaded exactly 20 megabytes with uTorrent, which is currently going at 0.1 kb/s.

Last night I downloaded 430 megabytes.

Does anyone know what's up? What I should do to resolve this?

Exactly which Axxess service do you have? Torrents are more than likely shaped during the day and you would be lucky to get even a little bit downloaded. Through the night it should go pretty well though. Are the torrents well seeded?
 
uncapped unshaped means you are not grouped into shaping categories based on usage. Either the OP is wrong and assuming hes using an unshaped account, or he really is using one of the uncapped express accounts which go for R899 for the lowest speed, 384. If this is the package the OP is on and hes being shaped... im sure that goes against the T&C's. If not, cancel and move right away, you can spend that cash elsewhere and get a better service.

Another thing i find confusing about the OPs comments was that he claims to be on a 384 account, but got download speeds of 90kbps? You will get a max speed of 40kbps on a 384 line not 90. Sooooo which is it?

Please provide accurate information next time, make it easier to identify if there is indeed a problem.

@HA: Is there anyway I can see if I'm in the Top20%? I've been using this for the last year and never had this problem, nor did I recently start downloading massive amounts of data.

EDIT: Not using Express ACC, so I'm guessing I'm wrong on that account. Also, you will get a max DL speed of 40 KB/s, I'm getting 90 kilobits from my supposed 384 acc.
 
not sure if getting slow speed, you probably in that 20%,

i had faster uplaod then download when i had this at work, when i was in 20%

Its not an unshaped account unfortunately. I've the same account on a 512 line. If you're into downloading you might want to look at downstorm or a similar service.

ya apologies misread as kb/s :p most people dont talk in kilobits per second, so assumed he meant the alternate especially if hes claiming to not be that much of a pc boffin. Although speedtest reports results in kbps its easier to work with kb/s as this is how your b/w is measured. Guys dont convert it for fun... anyway my advice is drop axxess, they are pretty rubbish, i cancelled all my accounts this month because even the unshaped accounts are being shaped.

Staple the most likely problem is you are in the 20% group now... should gone mweb buddy.
 
I'm with Axxess as well on the 1024 uncapped, up until last weekend my WoW latency was fine (+-400ms) now it's gone through the roof (last night up to +-24000ms) Funny thing is if I use BattlePing it drops back to the +-400ms. So I suspect a problem on Axxess side!
 
any good alternatives to axxess then? I've been with mweb and my experience was quite sheet
 
I'm also on the just uncapped 384 @ R196 pm. If you want to pull torrents on a sub R200 account, be prepared to be shaped heavily on weekdays. I pull enough content for my needs at nights and over weekends, so it suits me.

I would love real unshaped uncapped, but it ain't coming in at anything under R200 for a long while yet.
