I'd have to check, but we have two warehouses and sometimes merchandise is shipped from both. I hope there was no inconvenience,

Is there a R20K limit on American Express credit cards as well?
 
If you're using professionally really ask yourself if it's worth being without local support, though. Had good service from B+H myself...

After so many years (and sooooo many $s) I think I'm done with B&H but if it means you're finally going Canon I say go for it. :p :D

I want to import a video camera (camcorder) from B&H. I'm aware of the 14% VAT, but do you guys know if this will attract any import duties?

I understand that photography items does not attract import tax, but does a camcorder falls under this as well?

Lenses don't attract duties but camera bodies do - at least in the camera world. I'm not sure if videography differs.

Just make sure it's PAL. As far as I know they stock both if I remember correctly. These days it might not be such a big issue though.

Have you received an answer already? I'm urgently looking for a Canon HF S21 but they will not be available in SA when I need it. I can get the NTSC version (I really don't care since I never use directly with tv) - but need to calculate the import tax! Does anybody know how much tax camcorders attracts?

Will B&H ship to PO BOX?

Henry is quite correct. I recently made a purchase from the US for some AV equipment (it cost me roughly R30K) and AMEX processed my transaction without any issues.

If this is because you now own all the equipment you will ever need, that's great. OTOH if a rift has developed between us, I'd like to repair it.

And today B&H sent me another catalog in the snail mail.

I believe bwana had a bad experience of sorts with B&H if I recall correctly and if not mistake he is from NY.
