Hi

I'm looking to get a LTE package with a Huawei B618 router included.

Does anyone know if it can be set up to failover to the LAN port if the LTE connection drops?

TIA
James

My B618 defaulted to the WAN port when I plugged it into another internet connection, it didn't have an option to use it as fail-over. There's another thread here which has a tool for messing around with the firmware which you may try, though IIRC the main use there was to force it to use 2600MHz spectrum.

It's a nice router, aesthetically pleasing, but it's not very satisfying for a power user. I've had to content myself with the toys I have at work to play with, my home internet setup is really rather simple.

Yeah using another router in conjunction would work, but it means shelling out the bucks for another router.

Not having to do that is an advantage, obviously, and plays into the decision as to whether or not to sign up for the product.

In my experience: RAIN is stable enough (depending on where you live), so I wouldn't bother with fail-over. Unless you use it for some business-critical reason and have to remain always-on, in which case a Microtik or some such might be useful (my old Asus used to be able to do this).

Thanks for the answers. Essentially, for me, this helps me answer whether to fork out additional money for the B618 instead of the B315. There are other advantages, but none of them are necessary in my case.

Thanks again,
James

Why in private? I think a public reply would be beneficial to many.

As for now there is no failover, restarting B618 is the only way to switch networks.

Dear Sajunky

The reply to JamesvdS was an enquiry to the nature of his requirement. His request is currently being dealt with by the Huawei Research and Development Center. We will revert with feedback later this week.

It sounded to be as a request for a feature. I am looking forward for receiving feedback for any plans of implementing such a feature, please.

The other feature we are looking for is IP reservation and couple other, but there is so many I forgotten at the moment. :)

BTW, This is fantastic that we have Huawei representative here. :)

+1000!! on having a Huawei Rep here, as their call centre, was of no use,and Canal Walk shop only a very little, sadly.
Still awaiting the call back from call centre technical...4days and zip!
