**** approaching a yellow light actually flashed me to let me know he is jumping the red robot.

i was like :wtf:

looks like i must stand in the middle of the intersection and give all the robot jumpers an opportunity to go over before i can turn.

Just saw this happen as well!

And again, no lights on in thick fog. While at an intersection waiting to turn right a car comes from the opposite direction with no lights on. So both the cars from the cross traffic start going, luckily I start hooting and flashing brights so they stopped while the idiot in his grey car just cruises through oblivious to almost T-boning two cars.

This human really didn't know how to drive... I've always thought taxi drivers were bad when changing lanes abruptly but this guy did an even more astounding job!

To the driver of NPN 3810 (VW Caravelle type vehicle), an indicator does not give you the right to just pull into a lane on the freeway.

How I didn't plow into the back of you at around 100km/h this morning is actually a miracle... Given the state of the roads, you should be a hell of a lot more careful when pulling from a slower moving lane into a faster one.

I was in Durban a few weeks ago and nearly got driven into 3 times on the same day due to the above reason or they just didn't use their indicator at all.

Most of them don't even know how to merge safely onto the freeway.

I have no idea how I managed to drive there before moving to CT :wtf:

Indicators! I had two near contacts and one contact with week on my road bike while commuting because cars don't use indicators and just turning
If I can go through the effort of extending of of my damn limbs to indicate where I am going then surely you can flick a stalk!

You're not Duke Nukem. :p
No, not normally, but get too close and I'll turn into him. I ride by the rules of the road when on road and I expect other road users to do the same. It seems like people are more careless in the afternoon than in the morning. Because I usually ride my MTB and use trails and off road routes to get home I don't notice the bad driving in the afternoons. This week however I am without my MTB so I can only ride my roadie.

Anyone else find more bad driving in the afternoon than mornings?

Afternoon yes, not mornings usually at the office around 5 am and 6 am.
Cycling on the road in general is dangerous, and roadies usually ride in groups, and when one hoots for them to move to the side so you can get past, one gets the finger from them.

Any case they should grow up and become real cyclists and get a MTB:D

The dents I make with my bicycle and it's large steel pedals and bar ends are worth more than the bike. Come get some.

Doubtful.. I have an old double cab 4x4... its got more than enough dents that whatever you do won't be noticed.. :D

Funny you should bring up typical roadie behaviour. They are also not very kind towards us off-road types with our hairy legs and baggy shorts.

In the morning I get to work at 7:30 and I ride past pretty much all the schools and the university in Stellenbosch. Plenty of traffic but I have never had an unpleasant experience. Motorist are very friendly and accommodating provided you stick to the rules and ride as you would drive. Really pisses me off when I am standing at a red light and other bicycles (roadies / landscape technicians) just ride across it.

But today is different... I have 103kw and a 4 speed auto under my right foot, and I will gladly use it :whistling:

Landscape technicians are my "PC" term for all the garden workers from Kayamandi riding the R44 to De Zalze every day. Their lack of helmets and dilapidated bikes must give them special traffic rights such as ignoring stops and red lights.
