Bad Driving thread

I have the same issue with my in-laws. The son is turning 7 in December and he literally bounces from the boot of the car to the front seat, head out of the sunroof or hanging out of the windows - their excuse (as adults) is that he does not listen #facepalm. I go to fetch him, he climbs into the car, sits down, straps himself in and we go about our journey - same story, parents are just stupid f##ks taking the easy way out on discipline
Infuriating, if you can't control your kids then shouldn't have had them in the first place. Some people shouldn't be allowed to have kids.

so yesterday morning , i'm in the right turning only lane behind a bmw x5 we both getting ready to turn right , just as the lights is about to go green for , this truck comes from the left (*straight only lane), tries to cut us off (not sure how fast he thinks he can go) he then tries to push us into oncoming traffic so he can squeeze into the single lane , lucky BM had same idea as me and put foot instead of breaking, and squeezed through (*if he didnt i would have rear ended him or truck would have clipped us) , any way truck was avis rental i have a dashcam and managed to get licence plate down and what happened. it was a hectic day so never had a chance to pull footage or call avis. anyway today i pop a call to avis to tell em this happened and i have video etc, they take my details , within a few minutes i get a call from them to confirm the license plate, few minutes later get a call from the depot manager to tell me she is calling to confirm my story is the same truck etc because same plate was already been reported yesterday (asume by BMW driver) , and, sent me email correspondence to confirm the client has been advised and driver will be facing disciplinary action . quite impressed how serious they took this.

90% of Cape Town.

Seriously though, do people in Cape Town learn to drive differently? Do not shoot my head off, I said 90%, you guys here are not one of them.
Who else agrees though?

Of late... I have seen the horror firsthand...
Like the dude yesterday that drove all the way into town... his wheels touched the kerb several times.. he must have had something wrong with his depth perception.

I commute 100km a day to work and back home and not a single day goes by that some Cape Tonian doesn't try and knock me off my bike.
Doesn't even bother me anymore, used to it.

My commute is also a total of 90km a day, and since I'm longer on the road, I see more of the shite.
On the other hand, it happens everywhere - I understand, but Cape Town for me is by far the worst.

Yup... that highway... fuuuuckit dude... its even dangerous for those of us in a car bru...
Yup, Somerset West to Cape Town everyday.
Last week I started a new route into work (after commuting my route for almost 10yrs now), I go left at R300 turn off and have entire dual carriage all to myself for about 5km( count max 3 taxis), then hit a bit of traffic at T junction and go right.
Dual Carriage is empty (about 15 taxis) for another 3km and only then I go through Ottery to reach M5 (this is where i incur 4 minutes of heavy traffic).
M5 all the way to work is gridlocked but not a single taxi in sight and all the cars stay in their lane so it is smooth sailing on my bike.

Commute is under 5km longer now to work but worth every cent in petrol.

Totally Agree
Us Cape Tonians are the worst in this country.
And the cops do nothing, see it very often where the cop car does fokkoli - because he/she has finished their shift and on the way home, or on their way to police station in the mornings to start shift. Only reason I say this is there are always 4 in a car, no cop car patrols with 4 people inside.

Speaking of Kaapies, drove pass this gem on my way home -

That's just down the road from me, and that's a very nice and wide intersection. He must have been doing something stupid.

You live around here?

This morning I was in the lane where the red dot is indicated. Another vehicle was in the lane where the green dot is indicated. I saw him coming, he saw me coming and I carried on in my lane without stopping at the yield - to my mind he would be merging into the middle lane of the three on the bridge. However, he decides to take the most acute angle that he can aiming straight at my vehicle at the point where the green line ends. Off course he then joins behind me and the shouting and profanity commences.

Was I wrong? Should I have waited for him to cross all three lanes before I proceeded?

He had right of way, you should have waited. That's now if I read your post correctly.

I disagree, the chop should have been in the next lane to the right, not all the way in the OPs lane.
He could've yes, but have you seen the way people drive in this country? I always assume they'll be doing something daft and rather wait an extra second or so.

There also seem to be no lane markings restricting him from going all the way over so he was still legal. Stupid yes, but still legal.
