Bad Driving thread

So the City of Johannesburg have launched an initiative where you can send videos of reckless drivers.

Driver doesn't keep to her lane when turning -

...and yes, I know I did not keep to the guidelines which is bad but if I did she would've probably driven right into me. Luckily there was a cyclist on the other end and not a car so I had a bit of space to stop.

Here's a guy texting and driving at 2 different intersections. He starts moving after I hoot at him and raises his hand to "apologise" -

I never let them do that. Some people leave such large gaps that trucks can easily push in.

Think that will work in ZA? You have lots of uninsured vehikkels on the road as most people can't afford inn-sewer-ants.

If they can bring a basic "jalopy policy" that'll cover accidents only, then I'll sign up for one. Otherwise it's too expensive for me, and I'd rather drive defensively and avoid nasty crashes etc. (I don't have inn-sewer-ants, being one of the many Saffers with not enough income to afford that...)
A bit of a late reply.

In the UK it is law for each driver to have their OWN insurance, independently of the vehicle.

Driving without insurance
It’s illegal to drive a vehicle on a road or in a public place without at least 3rd party insurance.
Even if the vehicle itself is insured, if you’re not correctly insured to drive it you could get penalised.
Penalties for uninsured drivers:
The police could give you a fixed penalty of £300 and 6 penalty points if you’re caught driving a vehicle you’re not insured to drive.
If the case goes to court you could get:
The police also have the power to seize, and in some cases, destroy the vehicle that’s being driven uninsured.
Above is a small qoute from the uk government website.

If implemented here it would mean even all those taxi drivers will need to have insurance
Can you imagine the havoc and protests? :erm::eek:

And our fuel price should come down as there would be no need to contribute to the RAF hole
