After Openweb/IS network going down the drain. ie. IS international sucks and OpenBrowse 192k is slower than dailup I cancelled my account with Openweb, CLEARLY stating that I want to be able to use it UNTIL the END of September as I RIGHTFULLY paid for it. But no, suddenly Openbrowse reports that my Username/Password is incorrect, and using dailup, I checked my email to realize that MR Beep decided to disable my account.

This is plain daylight robbery. That account should be usable until the very last day of the month. I know I am not the only one complaining about the service from IS and the performance of Openbrowse so there is no excuse such as "It's your computer,ect.". Esp. considering I have 3 different Computers.

Now for the kicker, I call the Openweb Support line and get Disconnecting EVERY single time. Nice Service there!

I considered returning to Openweb in the future for Local only accounts but they just lost me as a client forever.

EDIT: Just got through on the support line and the person on the other end promised to call me back so we'll see what happens.

EDIT2: Nope they say there is nothing wrong on their end, yet for some reason I can still not connect to OpenBrowse ON 3 different Computers(Invalid Username & Password).... Hmm Who to believe?

Hi Gnome,

Please PM me with your name and account name and I will endeavour to solve your problem as soon as possible.

Unless in breach of contract, our accounts policy is to not disable accounts until after the due invoice date.
OpenRouter often throttles your connection speed if it tags you as a "downloader" (avoiding file-type limitations). In certain cases it is necessary to remove accounts that are in breach of our "no download" policy in order to maintain an effective level of service for the rest of our clients.
Edit - It is also possible that your password has been automatically changed because of the account being compromised (10 or more simultaneous logins).

Once I know your account name/password I will be able to check what has happened and find an effective solution.

I apologise for the poor service and hope we can solve the problem as soon as possible.

Regards,

Hi Gnome

I have checked up on your querie myself, and your account was NOT deleted, suspended, terminated or removed.

I have tested your account, and it works perfectly.

I suggest you PM Equinox, whom will derive a solution for your problem.

As for Openweb service:

We always have and always will try and deliver the best level of service possible. I am sorry if our service is not good enough for you.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

I love the fact how the customer always "knows" more than the Supplier.
How do you know u even setup ur 3 pc's correctly? Its because of people like you that i hate working with customers! Go run along now and leave us ur extra bandwidth. News Servers FTW.

Think of it this way, you think all customers are idiots before they even start talking because you work with so many idiots on a daily basis. So you'll treat everyone like an idiot even if they aren't. Customers who are treated like idiots are generally not happy customers. So maybe try treat you customers a bit better because customer have to at least be happy. For all you know the problem could lie with IS or SAIX or Telkom and not either party. But because the customer is an idiot it must be his fault :/

I have had my fair share of issues with openrouter not working properly and then I've had times where it runs really well. Now everytime it doesn't work properly I must have done something wrong or set up my system wrong.. .meanwhile nothing has changed.

I am generally happy with openweb support and have nothing against them.

I see

OpenBrowse is not a downloading service, and we advertise it as that.

It is a browsing only service.

Misunderstood...
OpenRouter was mentioned above, and since I dunno what it is, i assumed it was your router and that all peeps are throttled.
Just thought that's why the IS news server is so poor and why generally IS has degraded, sorry, was about to look for another IS ISP. Guess I should just go back to Verizon...

The IS news server doesn't go through any of OpenWeb's hardware/software and is in no way connected to us. It is simply a VAS that IS offers for free to it's customers.

OpenRouter was mentioned in my above post in connection with the OpenBrowse package. I apologise for the miscommunication.

LOL because the Openrouter software Worked perfectly yesterday, Then I send the cancellation email and viola it doesn't work anymore. Working with customers suck but they are always right ;) surely you know that by now? The boss of the boss is the customer because in the end they provide the income. Deal with it.

Anyway my openrouter still reports Username & password error but i've given up, I am just getting a Web-Africa Prepaid until the end of the month.

No hard fealings they provided fast service and I am leaving them now so I won't bother them any further with the problem.

Could I ask you what is the criteria to be tagged as a downloader?

Anything that cost them money when you download. :D Very similar than TELKOM I presume! You should download less than your allowance so they can resell that to others?

Its a browsing proxy, not a ticket to 30gb of international downloads. This kinda thing wont work with ppl sitting on it at max line speed all day

I know that it's a browsing proxy and all but I have a tendency to browse a lot, so I want to know what criteria I will need to match be be tagged as a downloader. This way I at least know that I'm not being tagged as a downloader because I browse a lot.

You see, thats the problem with customers. They become very arrogant and adopt a "i want it now" attitude, give the supplier a break and let them sort out your issue. Why cant customers just understand that the supplier or sales person is human and is not capable of obeying every command given to him/her in 1 second. Follow through takes time and time means correct results. I hope u and i never cross paths!

Well my 2c's worth their Accounts suck they never know if you paid or not unless you send them a confirmation e-mail. Currently at Cybersmart and ImagineIPS never had any problems with my payments not being allocated. Openweb will never see me again.

Neither do I, because that is where your mentality is wrong: Why shouldn't I expect it to work from day 1 till the day I am done. I was working for a telecoms provider a while back and we set up base stations, our downtime in a base station was about half and hour A YEAR. That is software upgrades included(and everything from software to hardware is redundant, downtime WAS NOT an option). Must be the damned customers that forced it on them. Just look what can be done when money's on the line. Oops there I am complaining about service again, a well, South Africa generally doesn't have good service.

Openweb service I will admit is quick (when their phone system works), and they followed on their promise to call me back, something rare. Also they were friendly even though I was very pissed off! (I needed to log into my student online web-site asap. and I had just been in traffic for about 3 hours - Joburg). Sorry to the person I was talking to but he cought me on a bad day!

But it doesn't change the fact that I can demand service as a customer. It sucks for you that you work with customers that demand service as well the entire day but that's just life. If I or any other person for that matter spends my money I expect service no matter the price, they decided that and if they couldn't deliver with the budget then maybe they should rethink their business strategy ( <- in no way related to any company)
