They played crap, Brazil also played crap, yesterday's game was crap. The game had a very slow pace, I almost slept.

I think a rugby ball bounced too many times of your head :D

I am very proud of bafana. That flippen goal broke my heart.
All that bafana needs is experience and a striker, then they will perform world class soccer.

Well done boys, 2010 here we come.

No hopefully we can get a striker of benni's class even benni would do even though he an unpatriotic punk ass we may very well need him.

I was pleasantly surprised with they way we played, if we play that well every match (and find someone who knows the ball should go inside the net, not out) then I think we will do ok.

Getting rid of Benni was the best thing the coach did. No more prima donnas in the squad, just a bunch of players willing to put in the hard graft. Benni comes across as being a disruptive influence in the team, a bit like Puke in rugby.

Lance i know that but there is no doubt in my mind he is about the best striker the country has at the moment with loads of experience.

Without that in our team we will do nothing.

Most people (media, fans, players, coaches, soccer analysts) keep on saying we played well, gave Brazil a run for their money, yada yada, yada. Crap that. Soccer is about results and we lost last night, it does not matter if it was a respectable loss against Brazil.

We still lost...
We still not playing in the final.
We need to change our mentality of accepting mediocre results.
We can’t glamorise a defeat...
Bafana Bafana were defeated last night.

Our non-existent strikers failed us.
Our defence failed us.
Our Middlefield failed us.

The only respectable player in the team is Itumeleng Khune, at least to a great extend; he did his job well, which is to stop goals.
What did our strikers do?
Did they really do their duties?

South Africans, let’s stop settling for poor results.
We can do better, a lot better... We can win the World cup, but we need to change our attitude first.

I still support Bafana Bafana, but I’m very disappointed :-(
Haven't read the whole thread but I totally disagree. The level of our play last night was a lot better than previous games and we gave Brazil a good run for their money. Our passing improved, took more shots at goal, defended very well and Khune is simply in a different league. You're right that we need WINS but when you're ranked 70 something playing against Brazil, you can't expect a clinical performance. I think we actually deserved a win there..

Bafana Bafana played 5 games, won 1, drew 1, lost 3. And our excuse is "we played well"

It's not an "excuse" - it's an observation made by those of us who actually watched the games. The fact that we lost to arguably the two best teams in the world is no embarrassment, nor does it indicate that we played poorly...

I find it so annoying that when we play crap, we (rightly) let them know how bad they are but when we actually up our game and start to get on the right track, theres still people like kokzn (appropriate name) that dont give credit where its due. Both our matches against Brazil and Spain we actually deserved to win, but the way in which we lost it will actually improve our play going forward. Its not like we were hammered, we gave 2 top teams a SOLID run for their money.

True story. You'll always get someone like that, though.

We got to play Spain twice and Brazil once. This is a big help and the benefit was in being exposed to these teams.

True and we only beat NZ:sick:
I hate this playing well story, we always play well and win nothing, whats the point? Its the second time we played Spain and Brazil and lost, actually twice against Spain and lost...
I hate that we consistently baby our national team saying well done boys... Its like we know they useless but they did well, same BS year after year...
Now they cant even play the African cup of Nations...

I think they should be punished more, put pressure on them, teach them the hard way! Maybe then theyll learn.

Worth a try, we put pressure on our cricket teams and rugby teams and they perform *WC cricket is another story... we treat our soccer team like little kids, I guess they still boys...

Anyhow nice move finally by Santana used a guy that never played in tournament and he scored twice, that second goal was world class and under pressure, nice game Mphelo!! But then he took off Tshabala... why? Let the guy play!!!!

I dont think Bafana played well against Spain, Mphelo and Tshabala did... and arguably Khune as well.

JK i am not sure how you think we should be beating teams like spain and brazil.

It amazes me though when we play kuk everyone says we are kuk when we play well and lose everyone still says we are kuk.

Anybody who actually watched this comp knows we played amazing footie against very tough opposition.

The negativity towards SA soccer is shocking in my opinion.

The only game that I am disappointed with was the Iraq one, I think that we could have done better.

Good for you.
USA played well, they finished 2nd. They scraped through but was amazing in the first half yesterday. If Bafana ever lost like that maybe id give the a gold star...
We played crap. Thats it. Both Spain and Brazil played poorly against us as well. Brazil sneaking one with a sub, so did Spain.

I still dont think we played well. Some decent passes, our midfield is about the only thing im impressed by...

Teams play well and lose.

For those of us who watch Bafana regularly will have seen the improvement in performances. That is what we are happy about.

And tbf only in a parallel universe would anyone expect the current Bafana team to beat Spain or Brazil. Most of us do not live in said universe.

While congratulating them on improved performances, we realise that there are still shortcomings in the team. We will continue to harp on about those, but come from a place of constructive critiscm and being positive.
