Battlefield 6 - Official Thread

Thanks I have to try this again tomorrow, rookie mistake, Notepad added a .txt to the User.cfg filename and I didn't check or notice

Not sure if I need to ignore the e-cores and threads though for my cpu. The below is the contents of the file without them but with them it will be 14 on lines 1-2 and 20 on line 5.

Thread.ProcessorCount 6
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 6
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0
GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 12

The last value should be double whatever the first ones are.

Yeah I also inserted that cfg file last night, but didn't really do a proper "before and after" test. Game ran totally smooth though.
I just took the numbers from Task Mgr.
On my 5800X3d without user.cfg cpu hovering around 94-100% while in game.

Once cfg applied my CPU hovered around 65-80% while in game.

I tried the user.cfg thing. CPU load did decrease a bit but I got worse 1% lows.
I've set my FPS to cap at 100FPS and must just live with it until I upgrade. The game still looks good and feels relatively smooth.

For those struggling to fly (like me), here is a video published by TacticalBrit that looks promising:

I had to make some changes to be able to fly with the keyboard. Turns out using Space to fire the guns is an issue because secretly the game binds Space to pitch down. So you have to reset the bindings for pitch down (and then bind to the key of your choice), and then reset the bindings for Fire (and then bind to Space).

Fixed Resolution Scale - 200
Frame Rate Limit - 165
Nvidia Reflex Low Latency - On
Upscaling Technique - DLSS
Upscaling Quality - Quality
Nvidia Frame Generation - On
Future Frame Generation - Off

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D - 40-50%
RTX 4090 - 80%

Game is super smooth
Without the limiter and with the Fixed Resolution Scale set to 100 I was getting 240FPS.

Previously I tried setting the User.cfg file to use only the performance cores and threads for a few matches and that didn't do the trick, if anything it possibly ran worse.

I'm only running with a single monitor and my RTSS is not setup so I couldn't check before and after stats for CPU and GPU usage.

With an i5-13600KF the below seems to be working well in the User.cfg file, I only managed to play a couple of matches with these settings (all p and e cores and threads). I need to play some more to be sure.

Thread.ProcessorCount 14
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 14
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0
GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 20

Frame rate in the two matches I tested in were generally in the 130 to 149 fps range. Once in a while it would dip to 120 fps.

I suppose I'm likely to just lock my frame rate at 120 fps once I know things are working as they are meant to.

I'm currently playing at 1440p high detail DLSS = Performance, will try Balanced and Quality if it's running well above 120 fps. 20251014_233252.jpg20251014_233352.jpg

Seems the price of an upgrade to phantom edition is just the difference in price between it and the standard edition.
R700 on the Steam Store page.
Am just glad I didn't spring for the phantom edition, the game in its current state feels like it needs calibration around dailies, weeklies etc... and the massive amount of bots and empty servers make the game feel soulless.

Anybody on xbox?
Are you finding games / lobbies with people quickly?
Not bots. Near full lobbies.

Is it like BF4, where we could see server location, map, mode, how many playing on it, how many queued?

Wanna jump in, but don't want the lousy lobby finder of subsequent BF games.

Has anyone found the best way to get to local servers with the least amount of bots? When I go to server browser, the filter options don’t even show South Africa (or any African country) as a region.

The way it was done on previous versions like BF1 was perfect, so everyone could see which servers were populated and then join those.

The game is great and I’m having a blast, but rolling the dice and then getting placed into a server with 80% bots takes away from the challenge and fun factor. (Although it’s great for stat padding hahaha)

Ok, let's sort this out ourselves.

I'll host a portal server from this afternoon and post the name there, then from 8pm in the evenings we join that server and see what happens.
If it shows 2/32, please still join. If everyone just looks and thinks "oh naw, there's no one on there", then no one will join it. Just hang around for at least 1 match with some bots and get those dailies sorted, then by the second match folks would've had time to join.

I'll post the details on Carbonite as well.

Or if anyone else wants to run with it then you're most welcome.

Sounds like a plan, although I’m not going to be able to log on this evening due to other commitments, but I’ll definitely have a look tomorrow evening and across the weekend

I've gotten pretty bored of playing the same 4 maps over and over

Apparently there are 9 maps, but more than half of them I've never seen
I think it depends on the game mode you choose. I’ve definitely been playing on all maps, although the city one from the beta (don’t know the name, not the Cairo one) seems to be less frequent

Empire State? I'm finding the performance n there to be terrible, my frame rate tanks on that map.

Will try join for dailies, but will only find time to play more from Sunday evening onwards. ARC Raiders open beta starts tomorrow 2pm and runs until 5pm on Sunday.
