Best Android Phone For October 2015

Z3. Or hold on a bit for the Z4/Z3+...

Edit: If it's battery life then the Z3 is a no-brainer...

The new Note 5 looks like it will have 4GB ram, plus the good build quality of the S6. Looks like a 4000+ battery too.

Will launch here in September probably.

The CPU clocks itself down to stop it from overheating. That's what slows the phone down.

I always see you on the My Broadband threads and you give great advice!! are you a moderator? Where do you get time to be so active on a forum I am jealous as I am always being distracted.

Yes also Z4 has the Snapdragon 810 that overheats the most as mentioned above.

As it stands, sadly besides the LG and S6, this years refresh is a terrible lot. Its a shame Motorola aren't in South africa anymore.
EDIT: I completely forgot about the P8, which is pretty great too. Huawei makes some decent phones.

Best hope that the next google nexus comes to SA ticking all the boxes you require.

Z3 has the Snapdragon 801 do you deem this one a safer option? because I don't see it on those charts that you linked me to...or is it also a dud

It is definitely the better option, if you're willing to wait, the New note is soon to come out. Otherwise the Z3 is a pretty good option still.

Just something to keep in mind:

Not sure if it still applies to the recent models, but the Z3 and Z3 Compact had issues with self cracking screens.
It may, or may not be a problem like I said, but if you go with the Z3 and it seems to be a problem, I'm not sure what Sonys stance is on it. Bare in mind, all Sony products are shipped via 3rd parties and not by Sony themselves. Which means you can't send to Sony directly for repairs.

That depends on your requirements. I wouldn't consider any of the better than the Z3.

With those you mentioned you're always sacrificing something. Whether it be front facing speakers or water proofing. The Z3 is still one of the best phones out now.

With the Z3 you are sacrificing a large Display, powerful CPU, and great Camera.

The Snapdragon 801 is an old CPU, what you want is something with AT LEAST a Snapdragon 805 e.g. Note 4.
Forget anything with an 810 as said above it overheats, hence why I suggest LG G4 with the 808 or Huawei Ascend Mate 7 32GB which uses Huawei's own CPU.

Its looks like a no brainer. LG 4.
Unless you are ok to wait another 3 months or so until which time other contenders might come into play. But I doubt $amsung will go back to phones with removable storage and batteries. They had a taste of the overpriced internal-memory-phone market and will no doubt stick to it.

While I understand the hate for internal only storage. I believe it's crap too, however, if done right. (S6 has UFS 2.0) It's ridiculously fast. What a lot of you guys seem to miss is that android runs better from fast storage, SD cards don't cut it.
The more they push the fast storage stuff, the cheaper it becomes and the better the tech becomes. Simple as that.

Google pushed that quite heavily before, why do you think majority of apps won't go on an SD card (In fact some say they do but have the main framework on the system).

Truth of the matter is, internal memory is way faster than SD.
For South Africans it is crap, hell I hate the crap out of it, the redeeming thing would be cloud storage, and our internet sucks too much for that.

Samsung is doing a crap ton of technological advancements on the S6/e. Everyone loves apple for doing it, but when its Samsung its a problem.
And yes, touchwiz is crap.

There is however no excuse of the battery situation, there is never a need for a non removable battery or small one. I mean they put a 3000mah battery in an A8, not sure why the s6 got the short end of the stick.

Oh please.

The 801 in the Z3 is a 2.5Ghz Quad-core. Still relatively highend. And the 3GBs RAM is still among the highest you can get.

Usability of a phone matters so much more these days when it comes to high end phones. It's very easy to put high end specs into a phone and have it still be a crap phone.

Things like battery life, water proofing, front spacing speakers, etc all matter so much more.

Those things actually matter when using the phone.

Could not have said it better myself

I'm currently using the LG G4. I've had a Z3. There is no comparison. Even my LG G3 outperformed my Z3.

Z3 is supposed to have an excellent camera on paper. It's far from it. That was on of the reasons why I got the Z3. And I was disgusted with the bad picture quality. When I got my G3 I immediately made my Z3 my secondary phone.

Then when I got the G4, well, I won't bother with anything else currently on the market. It's the best value for money you can get.

Or wait for the Note 5 as previous posts said. If it has SD Slot it will be a great device.

Cleary water RESISTANCE and front facing speakers don't matter as much as you would love to think as sales stats say the opposite. Last I checked Sony are not even in the top 10.

The phones I suggested have great usability, are built well and are better than anything Sony are doing right now. :)
