Hi guys

Please assist

What is/will be the best android smart phone to buy? I am upgrading my contract either September or October...

I am looking for a top of the range phone...pricing is not an issue but brand quality is essential.

I like to play multiple mobile games at a time like clash of clans and Titans and I like to watch movies so battery life is important.

I am looking for 3+GB ram...highest specs possible

Space is not a big issue, I have an SD card (should be able to take SD)

I want a removable battery but it is not vital to have it be removable.

I am thinking of getting the Sony Z3 or maybe Samsung note 4 but please advise if you have a better idea?

Just for reference I am using the Samsung S4 right now and it has not disappointed me yet.

Based on your requirements LG is about your only bet, Samsung have moved to internal storage only and sealed battery units. HTC still does secondary storage but sealed battery units.

I am somewhat biased towards Samsung as they make phones that utter ****, note series being the exception, they put on more useless bloatware than all other manufacturers combined, and the phones run no where near spec owning to this bloat which Samsung has also developed to supersede the standard android idle app kill ability to ensure performance. Owing to this they also have the slowest update process of any manufacturer, especially in SA with the providers having to approve updates, something other manufacturers do not allow.

LG gets updates inside of a month, HTC is about 3 months and Samsung is 6-12 month if ever.

If the Galaxy Note 5 comes with a MicroSD Slot then that will be the very best with the newest and best CPU, GPU, huge battery, large QHD Display for watching movies etc...

Otherwise the Galaxy Note 4 is the best you can currently get, followed by the LG G4 and Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Dual Sim variant.

Wouldn't bother with a Xperia Z3 at this, point there are better phones around e.g. the ones mentioned above.

Which LG do you recommend I want to have a look at it on GSM Arena

I have the G3, but new tech would be the G4, it will probably be my next phone. Its almost vanilla android so no need for custom rom and zero bloat.

For that time period i would go for the new nexus device from Google.

Wait for Galaxy Note 5.
Im currently using S6. Loving it.
September sees the announcement of a new Sony flagship which should have all the specs you need.
Just wait a little.

I have the Note 4. Got it about 2 months ago. No complaints as yet. I have the 32 gig version and space is not an issue as I use the on the go cable to back up all my stuff to my external hard drive. I am looking forward to the what the Note 5 has in store, but it has some big shoes to fill.

I'd go for the Asus Zenfone 2 4GB version. Only issue is you'd need to buy it cash as SA providers are unlikely to offer it on contract

That depends on your requirements. I wouldn't consider any of the better than the Z3.

With those you mentioned you're always sacrificing something. Whether it be front facing speakers or water proofing. The Z3 is still one of the best phones out now.

The One Plus Two is about to launch, should also be under 450 dollars with awesome specs.

I'm also waiting for the next Big Thing:
Note 5 - Only if expandable storage is included (doubtful)
Next Nexus device (will have to be a cash deal - not available on contract as far as I know)
LG G-Pro 3 (Should be a beast - if it is coming to these shores)

They are supposedly using a different version for launch, 810 v2.1, going to check out your link in a moment.

Edit: that benchmark is useless, it's not their own, they don't even know what has been done to the phone. We'll see in a week what is really going on.

All versions of the 810 are duds bud. HTC confirmed they are using rev 2.1 and its still a overheating turd. (Getting better with updates, but still a huge waste of time compared to 14 nm cpus)

What, for all manufactures, the providers have to approve the updates. They need to make sure it works with the network and add their own bloat. Also real time updates (in terms of who updates first) are as follows: HTC>Samsung>LG

The biggest problem lies with the providers and not the manufacturers. Hell. The S6 currently has 5.1.1 out, meanwhile LG has not and HTC just released it.

MTN generally has fast updates as they don't bake their branding into the firmware like Vodacom.

I am sorry, had to click bait, google is full of scammy marketing instead of honest info.
The people commenting here are giving some great advice though so maybe it can help you too.
