Best Email client folks?

I heard TheBat! is good. Eudora PRO but they're now going only ADware.
Thunderbird? Pegasus Mail? Something else?

Which solution is reliable
1. Won't let me loose emails because of database corruption (Outlook Express and Outlook are NOT reliable IMO)
Fast
2. Allow me to search through 20-50.000 emails reasonably quickly?

Finally 3. Can handle huge numbers or stored/archived emails?

Maybe 4, offer easy backup.

Any advice? Thanks :).

I ran Thunderbird for a few months. Its under-powered imo.

FF beats IE hands down, but Thunderbird loses out against outlook.

Personally I would recommend Outlook but Thunderbird isn't bad either, not as powerful as Outlook though

Thunderbird really has little chance against Outlook (not Express) given that one is a hugely funded commercial app. That being said for the email part it handles my private needs very well.

I've always used Microsoft Outlook (not express version) and it's the best as far as I'm concerned.

I've tried Thunderbird and it didn't do it for me - I use it at work though (because I have too)

thunderbird, except i can find a way to delete all junk mail at one time. How does a person do that

Don't you mean you can't find away:D,, sorry bro had to. Open the junk e-mail folder then select all. Hit delete

I don't like Outlook. It's slow, has poor search capabilities and has crashed/corrupted databases before for me. I was thinking Eudora Pro (I don't mind paying) or maybe I'll try TheBat.

Try Pegasus Mail out.

It's not so flashy as the others, or even so high profile, but it is super powerful. Takes a little getting used to, but it pays off in the end for it's security and more.

Outlook itself is good, but quite a lot of the features don't work unless you are connected to an Exchange server. For normal POP3/IMAP4/SMTP, it's a bit of overkill

I have never heard of anyone else using Outlook out of preference. How come you have to use TB at work?

thunderbird is the best email client i know of

its search facility is just amazing

outlook is good for business but personally i hate it
if you need a calender go with outlook if not go with thunderbird

backing up your thunderbird is easy as well and no addon is required

I use Thunderbird because of the search functionality. However, if Outlook brought out some search system, I would switch pretty quickly. Thunderbird is sluggish.

I use Thunderbird at work and at home, works great for me. I agree the search is good, and dont find it too sluggish at all. Yayy for open source.

Gmail, without a doubt. If you have to use a local PC program, The Bat!. I use Gmail, and back it up with The Bat - I have about 200000 messages there. The Bat has really good backup/restore capabilities, search, etc. etc.

Thunderbird,

1) there are plugins that give it calendar support, appointments etc; if I recall correctly.

2) it's open source and cross platform, so I can easily migrate/copy/sync my mail with my linux machines if I need to.

3) it stores mail in a plain unix mailbox style, so its easily importable - no propriety format

4) it's free :D

While it isn't the fanciest, feature-packed mail client on the block, it's been very reliable over the last few years for me.
