Best iPhone Apps

I like:

SimpleResizer (for resizing pics to take up less space when emailing or mms)
Photoshop express (nice for common editing like croping and aligning pics)

@fxit_man: what program do you recommend to jailbreak iphone 3g (3.1.3)? I tried googling but I got so many different answers I just got a head ache and gave up. And also, I hear that jailbreak drains battery life, how true is it?

Angry Birds and Cut the Rope ;)

Thanks Rapid, those were the first 2 games I downloaded. Got about 8 games now, but looking for more good ones.

Anyone got any advise on whether or not iMovie is worth the $4.99?

Words with Friends is also pretty good (2 player "scrabble" over the net) - you'll need friends with the app on their iPhones or iPads though ;)

Sorry, haven't tried iMovie on my iPhone yet - sticking to the version on my Mac for now...

Since you're still on 3.1.3, you should be able to visit http://jailbreakme.com from your iPhone's Safari Browser and download Cydia! (I.e. Jailbreak). Naturally, back up in ITunes before just in case.

In terms of battery life, it depends on what you install. Alot of mobilesubstrate add ons which are processes that run in the background would naturally cause battery life to degrade. Things like Winterboard etc which I wouldn't recommend downloading on the 3G if you want to keep it running smooth. You can always uninstall stuff in Cydia though!

But nothing really major. The standard push and that affects battery life much more.

Lastly, the jailbreak is completely reversible anyways: just restore the phone.

When you install Cydia, make sure to press the "make my life easier button" on the top of the first page.

That will allow you to restore to 3.1.3 if you ever wanted, otherwise you would be forced to restore to the latest firmware for your 3G (4.1 or so)

My iPhone 4 is jailbroken and I haven't experienced any effect on the battery. From what I've heard the creators of the jailbreak say it should actually extend battery live since it bypasses some bootrom functions.

It's apps running in the background and location services that chews up most battery power. After I switched those off from running permantly my battery lasts much longer.

I've used it a couple of times but I wouldn't say it's worth $4.99. Not unless they add more themes and a bit more transitions and functionality.

Overall it's pretty cool and allows you to easily put together a quick movie clip of photos and videos with sound, but nothing ground breaking.

Ok cool thanks.

DocsToGo or Documents 2 for Word, Excel etc... Dropbox, Dictionary, Wikipedia, iBooks, TomTom or Navigon, Trapster (as long as you use it to update where the Metro Cops have their speed traps), Facebook, Shazam, News24 (For local news), IMDb, TFLN (textsfromlastnight) for a good laugh, Speed Test (to check your network speed), Star Walk will amaze you, Camcorder, oh and F1 Timing '10 and Moto GP '10 are awesome if you are a fan...

As for games, I love both Need For Speed's (Undercover & Shift), Real Racing, Tiger Woods Golf, Mirror's Edge, Splinter Cell, both Modern Combat's, Tetris... In fact, any games from EA or Gameloft are bound to be brilliant. Also try Apple's own Texas Holdem

If you have a jailbroken phone, get installOus and Updatr for downloading and updating your jailbroken apps.

Wow...thanks... I do have F1 timing 2010, and yes it is great. But I will try some of the other games you mention as well.
