best PC for 20K?

I am not an intel fanboi, i was hoping amd had a good cpu so i could go over to them as i am for the moment not going to buy i7 because it is a tad expensive for my blood. Then i saw the amd 920 could not even beat my q9550 and that thought went out the window.

I also owned a 1700 2600 3200 3800x2 which set me back like 3k and then i changed from the amd fan boi and listened to my buddie and bought an e6300 which rocked my world compared to the 3800x2 . So call me an intel fanboi all you like but i know for sure should amd have a better product i would buy it and recommend it. I do not think you can the same :).

Err no, just bored while reading about people arguing about something that's never going to get anywhere...

BUT, I'll let my post count. I am an AMD fan, but I say, go with the i7! It's just logic...
 
Yea i check your new so i am just pointing out you may as well join in and have your say. Often they do get somewhere but often you have people who will only buy one brand and only ever advise that brand which is not really objective.

Just because someone is an amd, intel, nvidia or ati fan they should know what is better and should not just say one is better because they like that brand.

I think it will get somewhere. Intel currently make faster CPUs, period. AMD fanbois must accept that and know that if people are talking about serious bucks then Intel is the way. They can get their bit of AMDness in by suggesting an AMD/ATI gfx card at least. :D

Go i7. :D

Supporting and recommending the best does not make one a fanboi.

I am guessing you have seen the i7 cpu's slaughter any other cpu in every test i have seen, would love to see this 9450 beating it :), also would love to the game.

If you go to sybaritic you can see that an i7 build with the screen, keyboard etc that was mentioned comes to under 20k, and since the dude has the money its pointless going the amd route just because its cheaper. The i7 build is also more future proof then the amd.

Has no one ever thought asking the question, for what does he need the pc?
Gaming? Working? or maybe both? If work, is he going to use cpu hungry apps like auto cad etc...

It just is a fact, that a amd Phenom II is the best you can get for buck. At the moment. And please guys, name me one game or app that will force that cpu to fall on its knees. And no, Im not an amd fanboy.

My suggestion, rather get the AMD and get yourself a HD DVD Player which will work great on the 23inch hd samsung named above.

Now that's an idea. A blu ray drive. Still think an extra 1tb drive might actually be better considering the price of blu ray movies.

Point taken, but for that money why not get a HD player. But why getting then a 23inch HD screen. (Maybe he has a xbox) :p

I mean, if you really dont worry about money, sure yes, get the I7 and get 2 GPUS and have fun.

And I will bet now with any of you. Get the AMD 940 and the I7. Park them next to each other and work on both of them and run games on it. You wont feel the difference. That is Guaranteed. Benchmark scores are for Overclocking freaks not for the average homy who plays3-5 hours a week and checks his mails 50x a day :D
 
You don't need a blu ray drive to fully enjoy a 23inch screen. Dvds, avis and games look good. Just make sure you get a 1gig card.
 
Cant the OP just get the I7 rig I posted in my "which pc should I get" thread and just add a 23" screen?
 
If you look here, you'll see even the Q9450 beats the i7 in UT3 by 5fps, in Crysis and World in Conflict the 920 beats the 9450, but in Supreme commander they are virtually identical, with the Q9450 coming ahead by a nose.

Also on this page 2 out of 5 games the Q9450 beats the i7 920.

So your super advanced all powerful gets whipped by the lowly Q9450. Yes, it's not all the time.

Like I said though. You're gonna pay 30% for a cpu that's only better some of the time.

I think it's an embarrassment though. That's why I recommended the PhenomII 940.

Dude, correct me if I'm wrong, but the more fps, the better. In that link the 9450 is smack dead last with the i7 way at the top? How do you make this conclusion then?

I'm comparing against the i7 920. It's not like the op has the budget for any of the other i7s anyway.

Look i am sorry but the only thing going for amd is prica and if your on a budget amd is your man. If you got money to blow i7 is your man.

Now the amd boys can disagree all they want but they are just lying to themselves and to everyone else when they come with their buy amd over i7 kuk. I say stop pushing your favourite brand and start acting like you know something about pc's because anyone who does will tell you i7 is the business if you can afford it.

You didn't even read the links I posted did you?

Now that you get proven wrong you're all quiet have have no real response.

Why don't you act like you know something and do research before spewing out that kuk.

It would be bad enough if the i7 920 performed the same as the Q9450. But it doesn't just perform the same. Sometimes the Q9450 beats i7 920.

So please. Just admit you are wrong and take it like a man.
