They Making RAM for gaming!? :p

Just get any old DDR2-800 can get 2GB's for about R600, it's all the same you just pay for the extra speed which makes very little difference IMO.

Get a minimum of 2GB and if you have money to burn buy nice low-latency gaming RAM such as OCZ or Corsair :)

what:eek:, i can Transcend DDR2 RAM, 1X2gig module for R400. (incredible deception)

Is there not a ddr "converter" clip that can make ddr2 fit on a ddr1 slot? The ddr1 is soooo expensive! :( The reason for the question is I want to increase my AMD3000+ pc ram to 1gig, but it is 400 Meg.. Is it not possible to "underclock" the new ddr2? That is... If one could get it to work in a older pc? :)

Thanks. Will go hunting. :) I see it was written in 2005 so perhaps it will be avalable somewhere. Just wander what it will cost?

Sorry to derail thread. :)

Just get as much ram as you can afford and make sure you run the modules in dual channel.

The type and speed of ram will be negligible if you aren't overclocking.

any low latency ram is good for gaming , in my experience 2 gigs low latency is better than 4 gigs normal ram, just mho ;)

If your not planning on overclocking your pc low latency ram is a bit of a waste :( Just go for good quality normal ram like transend or kingstone. Will have the same effect as 1k gaming ram.

I'm quite happy with my Corsair's.

Good value for money and running it OC @ 4gig without any BSOD's

Like people say, the best gaming RAM is the cheapest RAM you can buy (might want to still find a slightly known brand) so that you can spend money on a CPU and GFX, which really makes a difference to gaming.

If you want to OC heavily, then you can pay 3 times the price for "gaming RAM". :(

lol, people, people, dont get sucked into the brand game! Ram, is Ram, is Ram, worry about clock speeds rather than "extreme" naming conventions, trust me, my cheapish 800mhz ram pwnzors ur Extreme Optimus Prime Deluxe 533mhz ones!

Yeah, I got 2 x 1GB DDRII-800 Hynix ram from PC international for cheap. They work fine and run in dual channel. No probs so far.
