Im getting sick and tired with this abortion of an application... does anyone have something better than Itunes to manage an ipod with?

I have an mp4 movie, so i import it into itunes. Its there, I can see it in Itunes. I click sync, and it doesnt sync the movie.. And under movies, I have the option selected to sync the movie and I can see the movie there. Even if i just try sync it.. it doesnt work.

right click the mp4 file and click show in explorer and see if its there or not...maybe you have to delete that one and import it again

I select the option to change the mp4 file to I would assume would be some other form of mp4 format for my ipod. 7 hours later and its not even 10% of the way through the convert will using 100% of the cpu for that time. I could have have riped and decoded and converted a movie into an avi under 700mb in that time.

Lame software, really lame software.

I am currently using iTunes, but not for video or audio conversions, cos the iTunes software converter is cr@p.

Currently using dbPoweramp for the audio conversions and Allok Video to MP4 Converter for the video conversions - they both work great...

I also want to dump iTunes, and am still looking for a decent software package - will try the ones already mentioned here...

I can vouch for foobar 2000. I use it to sync to my 80gb video ipod.

Itunes is VERY picky about what it will sync to an ipod movie wise (regarding the settings you used to encode). Also, the file needs to have an m4v extension (thanks again to apple making up standards again). I used to love itunes until i discovered that some of the tags it writes to my files are non standard and break some other standards compliant players. The fact that sometimes the memory usage spiked at 180 megs did not help. And what is with all the extra quicktime nonsense that gets installed by default? I switched to foobar 2000 with the ipod plugin, and never looked back :-)

Winamp and foobar2000 is great, I use Winamp to sync my iPod.

Almost a 2-month resurrection, I'm impressed...

+1 for winamp!
That iCrap-on-your-Tunes, is realy bad, installs quick time player along with it, and talk about fos...

Two programs: Linux: Amarok (simply the best whether you use iPods or not)
Windows: Media Monkey. Really awesome too.

Doesn't Amarok have iPod support these days as well?

EDIT: FRoot beat me to it!!! :D

Oops. my bad. Yeah, Amarok has no problems beating the crap out of iTunes. AND YOU CAN USE >1 IPOD ON A SYSTEM. YAY....
