i rate its better, as dumb ppl, just turn a thing the whole way, and see front on, and think cool, meanwhile we blinded at the back... mine you'll notice the second button doesn't do anything at the front.. suppose some retards will still press all buttons

I keep mine on because I get much better peripheral lighting that way. Not sure what all the fuss is about though - I've encountered oncoming fog lights every night I drive and they have never bothered me in the least - they're certainly not harsh. It's the twits who drive with their brights on that annoy me as that really is a nuisance.

For some of the very reasons you quoted. I feel a lot better driving with them on, and having faced oncoming fog lights myself on plenty occasions, I honestly believe that this is a whole heap of tripe that's being spewed about. I've never had an issue with them at all, in fact, I have never even considered that they are dangerous because they have never ever bothered me in the least little bit, and I have been driving for many years. Nor have I ever heard this from any of my mates, family, colleagues, acquaintances etc.

Look I can't force you to do the right thing. The facts I've presented, in my opinion, are the right thing to do. They are based on research and the reason why road laws about fogs exist. I was previously like you, driving with my fogs on, thinking I'm right. But I don't any more because I've educated myself and made a choice.
I try to be a courteous driver in a world where politeness on the road is quickly diminishing. If you choose to ignore, then so be it.

I got caught a demerit for driving with my fogs on...
R500 and 1 demerit. I had no plates on in front, but he didnt care, coz he only catches drivers for foglights wtf!!??!!

Anyway my judge friend understood that the fine is steep, charged me R100 and removed my demerit.

PS on the fine it explains how demerits work, on your 13th demerit you and the relevant car is banned for 3 months. It also takes 3 months to lose 1 demerit.

Pls can you scan a copy of that fine ? AFAIK there is no fine for driving with your fog lights on. Unless you had them durban jobs globes in there. No traffic cop in the world can write you a ticket for driving with your fog lights on

You'll soon notice how the light is amplified etc.

Ever since I read that piece I've stopped driving with my fogs on all together. It makes alot of sense.

On some occasions if it's not dark yet, but overcast etc I would drive with park lights + fog lights on - since it does not result in the same glaring effect.

Driving with your fog lights and when there's no fog is just not acceptable! I understand when it's raining extremely hard and you can't see they in front of you.......

Yes, but that is for people viewing you not you viewing the road. I see better when driving with my Fog lights on in fog than with my head lights on. The test you read is from a 3rd person and not the driver.

Why? I'm not a fan of drivers who use fog lights as a fashion item, but this cop ignored a missing number plate in favour of a fog light violation. I consider a guy driving without plates to be a lot more serious than someone driving with their fogs on.

Technically, fog lights would be a safety issue, and number plates a policing issue, so driving with fog lights on could be seen as a more serious offence.

It's illegal as per section 163 of the National Road Traffic Act. You can be fined for breaking the law.

Clear Skies = Night

Blue Skies = Day

and no it won't bother me when you drive with your normal driving lights on during the day......my normal driving lights is always on because I drive a dark grey / charcoal car, and I wish that everyone would do this because it makes people more aware..........
