good for you!!
Here's the thing. If you are avoiding traffic fines by removing your plates, how do we know that if you cause an accident you won't just flee the scene? Given that you're already a criminal, it's not that outrageous to suggest you wouldn't give a **** if you actually kill someone along the line.

The fact is, if you don't speed, you wouldn't need to remove your plates. You removed your plates so you can speed.

it took you really long to figure that 1 out ..

anyway , if it makes you happy then so be it..

I got caught a demerit for driving with my fogs on...

EXCELLENT NEWS!! Go you good cop!

Anyway my judge friend understood that the fine is steep, charged me R100 and removed my demerit.

Hmmm, have to wonder about this. I wonder if he were not a friend if that would have happened. If not I hope he gets caught....

PS on the fine it explains how demerits work, on your 13th demerit you and the relevant car is banned for 3 months. It also takes 3 months to lose 1 demerit.

Not long enough in my opinion.... you were after all given 12 chances!!

Jeez some of you people can moan about trivial issues. Fog lights schmog lights. So let me get this right: it is said that they affect a persons vision by causing the pupils to contract more than with just normal beams. Well in that case lets ban more than one car on the road at the time because when theres hundreds of cars coming at you from the opposite direction its just one big mass of lights man.

What a load of bollox.

+100 !!

oooooo wait I think I understand it now.

By Fog light they refer to the DOC lights fitted at the bottom of a bumper and not the ones fitted next to the head light or the ones build into the bumper Just under the head lights.

IF they mean DOC lights then I agree fully but not the Dim lights fitted to all cars as a standard.

Think I got confused here :o

The fogs are dipped, does not blind anyone! the car has "lowered suspension and the the lights are aimed at the ground, how it effects people I have no flippin clue!!!!!

My MK4 has fogs built into the headlight cluster, I can drive with it on the whole day and not get a fine, but I know those fogs are blinding.... really stupid if you think about it.

i always have no front or rears number plates and my fogs are on always :)
no fines , no demerits :)
lucky me !

Lucky you, I think this idiot cop, found something, he even calls himself the foglight cop.... idiot.

i occasionaly turn my rear fog light on when i'm reversing out the driveway, thing is you forget its on when you drive off

Rear fogs are not nice, especially on vehicle that have their lights high up like on 4x4s

live your lives the way you want to , il do the same and deal with the situations i find myself in accordingly.

if i get stopped and fined for not having a number plate , il pay the fine
if i get stopped for having my fogs on , il pay the fine too.

I wont pay for having front fogs on!! NEVER!

thats what im saying , the fogs at the bottom bumper affect nobody at all !
i wont pay for having fogs on either

Exactly! What about idiot drivers with their headlights not positioned properly, most cars these days have headlight clusters that can move up or down and left to right, If i adjust my headlights to face "up" its directly in the face of other passenger car users, that should be illegal!!!! Its just as bad as driving with your brights on....

As I've learned a couple of months back, fog lights are an annoyance to fellow road users and can cause harm and accidents to those around you. Only use them in foggy conditions or heavy rain :D It actually states so in the LAW :D

Please be considerate towards those around you. :D my 0.02c :D

are these charges for all provinces ?
cos some provinces dont have the points / demerit sytem .
what happens if i get caught in a province that uses a points sytem and i live in another province that doesnt use the points sytem ?

please explain to me how on earth does a fog light affect another driver ?
it is placed at the bottom of the vehicle , about 30 cm above the road or maybe even less.

does anybody here sit on the floor and drive ? ?

Was my argument exactly! I will quickly find the post and post a link to it here! You should read through it all and then , like me, you will understand the logic! There's even little pictures and articles there to help you understand! It helped me :D :D: :D
