So you are willing to break the law and be a road hazard because people who probably can hardly see your car in the dark might think it looks nice?

If they cant see then why are they driving???
And if they cant see me at night they gonna crash into, atleast with lights on they know to move away!!

If its not drunk drivers its blind people... and we bad!

Man... are you dense? If you look at a car from the front at night you can hardly see what make and model it is because the normal/driving lights will block you're ability to see. From behind no one cannot see that your front fog lights are on. From the side it is a mix of the above. So how does is make the car looks lick if noone can see it?

I can tell a car by their lights, majority of the time. Bms, Audis, VWs, Mercs... Do I have super human eye sight?

how many times do i have to tell you that i dot need to have number plates on because i sell cars and have temp permits with me .
areyou too silly to understand that ?

I can't really comment here as I ride my bike mostly without plates to avoid fines, yes I know its wrong and I will never complain about getting a fine, as I take my chances and am prepared to take the consequences, but I would like to say that trade plates can not be used in this way, it is illegal, and intended for use in transporting dealer stock cars from one location to the next only. Do you drive dealer stock cars only, and even so they are not for general use, but only for delivery of the dealer stock car/bike. I am not condemning you, merely stating that it can not be used as you stated.

trade plates can be used the way i use them , there is nothing wrong with the way i use them .
if i get stopped by a policeman for a random check , he just needs to see the temp permit and my licence and he is satisfied , i dont need to tell him that i sell cars or i dont want to get fines etc.
your argument is invalid.

the car has a temp plate or garage plate , its not expired and it makes the car roadworthy.period.

FYI :)

please dont look at the pics without wearing sunglasses , its very bright and might irratate your eyes.

Hey you are obviously the expert here regarding all things legal , so what ever floats your boat pal, I was just giving my input, however invalid it might be according to you. please don't act as if you are the only member here with trade plates, a knowledge of the law or the right to post. Getting away with something does not make it legal, I think your moral ref counter needs some calibration, but you will most likely find that statement invalid also.

Note how the foglights have the same brightness as the main beams. (No surprise there - they'll probably both be using standard 55W halogen bulbs).

Damn, this thread has proven that we really do have some major league *******s wandering around in society....

And MAGANGAT your car does not look at all "sick" with the foglights on. In fact to the contrary, having the fog lights on tells me that, no matter the appearance of the car, the person driving it is an arrogant, pompous, self absorbed (*person*) who is stuck so far up their own asses that they have very little concern for any other road users. I hope the people you assume you are impressing feel the same way too...

And the angle of those beams Clay?!?!

Perhaps those arguing the merits of using fog lights during the day when there is no fog (which should not even be able to be argued as it is illegal!!) should search this forum for the previous argument on this topic. A poster there was kind enough to post a link to another forum which showed the effect of various lights on the vision of any cars approaching the said vehicle.

But of course, as I concluded in my previous post, most of you probably have very little concern for other people's well being anyway!

@Lancelot: as the long as the car looks "sick" they don't give a ****.

Good point, and very relevant. On the Golf, as far as I can see, they point straight forward, and don't have the horizontal cutoff in the lens that the headlights have, so they could indeed appear brighter.

Now in this day and age. Most normal headlights on a car are enough to blind one. Adding fog lights into the equation makes this matter worse.

I know how many times I have been blinded by fog lights, as I drive a bakkie with a canopy. It creates glare on the back window.

If coming from the front well it is looking into a bright light.
