Beware when ordering from RARU...

I had to wait 4 weeks for delivery of some items from Raru that were supposed to take a week. Their communication was lacking as well. That was my third order from them. First two were fine but I won't use them again.

There are plenty smaller online stores making a profit. Not all start out as Amazon or Takealot.
If I am not mistaken, Takealot was started by the current owners of Raru. After it was sold, they were not allowed to open a new online store for a few years as per the agreement. When that period ended, they started Raru. So Takealot didn't actually just start being what they are today. Actually Takealot started out as Take2.co.za. Just a bit of useless info.

People are forgetting that Takealot also absorbed all of Kalahari.net's fail and related debt.

It didn't just appear out of nowhere of their own accord.

Do a charge back with your credit card company - don't waste your time waiting for them... especially if they have money flow problems

That's what i was thinking too. It also hurts them with the credit card agencies. I do it when the company is in the wrong and not budging, works a charm.

Its not civil when you money is essentially stolen? Depends how u see it i suppose

If they take your order and have no intention to deliver or pay you back.. then that is criminal

If they take your order and just can't afford to refund you... then it is civil

Yeah, before everyone gets excited and wants to become another Jeff Bezos...

And in case you wonder why we're not top on their list for deliveries...

All true but one has to be careful with the profit metric.

Amazon is putting all its profit straight into growth and expansion. They spend a fortune on R&D., build out etc.
So they build out more distribution centres, plough money into AWS and acquisitions and launch new growth-related projects.

Their cash flow is something special because they get the money from their customers before they pay suppliers.

Their play is not profit but growth and demolishing competitors.

To paraphrase Warren Buffet, Amazon and Walmart are like two elephants fighting. Both elephants will come out the fight fine but the little guys get trampled.

As for SA, their deliveries here are growing but we are tiny compared to many others,

Looks like since they removed the import section they started going backwards. Their troubles obviously started before that. Maybe they too far in debt and can't keep up anymore? Maybe they should let Takealot take over......

Well their recent customer service over the past couple of months hasn't helped.

So sad to read this from my favorite company. Had the same issue with refunds.

If this company goes down then I am stuck to using Takealot.

Guess it will be back to struggling to get pre-orders and stuff like Amiibo

There is Loot

Yeah I know, out of the three I still order more from Takealot though :-( RARU takes ages to deliver and Loot seems to lack stuff.

Reminds of the dreaded email from Raru for delivery. WHen you see your item arrived and it says "packing"(Wednesday), you get excited only to not ship the same day but the next.
Next day being Thursday and getting your hopes up thinking you will get it next day, only for the email to read 2-4 working days. This for an order of R1k. Delivery thus Monday.

But order Steins;Gate(On special) on a Monday and get it the next day. Kinda defeats the having stuff for the weekend with other orders.

Still I would like to see this company succeed.
