Sure and that may suit your needs because you may have your reasons for needing the local cap. But others may find more value in 5GB international over 30GB local.

Because I don't just download after hours. I also use the net interactively and 6mbps is much more pleasant than 384kbps or 1mbps.

That's because we still need to run the product merge on our side. You'll see the different products reflect on the Customer Service Area and DSLConsole soon.
 
Is there any way we can upgrade to a pro like product if we are on Red Africa? instead of being on
silver the whole time

How do you not? 1GB a day is not exactly heavy use if you are using online apps etc as well as a little Youtube (there are loads of BBC doccies etc available) entertainment - especially at 1080p.

I am on the Redafrica special of 30GB anytime and 100GB off-peak. Can i not get an extra 20GB anytime and remove 50GB off-peak bandwith, which will make it 50GB anytime and 50GB off-peak. I mostly use my bandwith from 6PM-12PM during weekdays and all day over weekends. This will suit my needs for streaming and the occational downloading. If the bandwith is dirt cheap then i might just buy some bandwith extra.
 
I concur with the above. The value of these MyBroadband Special accounts have reduced significantly the last year. We don't feel so "special" anymore ! :)

Just to confirm for the RedAfrica account guys - these accounts have 100GB's of Download Plus and 30GB's of anytime usage. This differs from Peak/ Off-Peak.

These accounts are different being the 100GB's are Download+ GB's and not off-peak - two entirely different products.
Because the RedAfrica and MyBB accounts where a limited special I doubt we'll be doing any changes on these.

Neither do I, it's effectively 45GB (if you keep in the thresholds and thus avoid "less prioity") for less than a 25GB account? So if you use about 45GB a month on a 1Mbps line, it's cheaper to choose the uncapped option and to choose the 50GB (even cheaper than the 25GB)

Fair enough, but I was refering to the 1Mbps uncapped package to a 1Mbps 50GB package on R/GB

That's the difference between uncapped and capped (apart from shaping and thresholds) - uncapped accounts at the same price point are limited to speed, whereas capped accounts are not. To some people, the speed is more important than the cap.

I was on the special 25GB Titan Package that only allowed one concurrent connection for R299.00.

I received an email stating that I will be upgraded to allow 4 connections now.

I wonder if I will also get the three month R239.00 price?

Frankly, saying you paid for only 2 gigs @ R74.50 and you got 8 free is a bit of a spin to make the new (same) price/gb look better. It's still 10 before vs 10 after at the same price, whoop-dee-doo!

It is great to see that people are happy and that shows that WA are meeting some customers needs - I just hate the spin that goes with it. You still paying the same price for the same amount of gigs - you now can use them whenever you choose.

I guess typical twisting of the truth ( sorry I meant typical marketing :) )

As it turns out, the 25gig WA package is on special. Normal pricing is R 299, so their per gig price is higher than Telkom's per gig price on both the 10 and 20/25 gig packages. How do they hope to compete? How can people praise their pricing when they're more costly than Telkom?

I think that people (well I at least) are praising the fact that their pricing is now more in line to compete the other ISPs, whereas they used to be the odd one out. WA is now an option in terms of capped products. Now if only they would sort out their network issues.
 
WA where can we find out how and how much it costs to upgrade our priority to home pro... this goes for all the packages including red africa

I also want to ask, are home and home pro and business contending with each other? Or do you allocate each user category its own pipeline (rate limit) and hence the contention is with similarly prioritised users.

Because your home, home pro, business lite and business users are prioritised relative to each other it implies that we all share together and no collective rate limiting applies. The implication is therefore that the low prioritised users will always get drowned out because of the overall contention and low priority.

I would appreciate a comment on this
 
Fingers crossed that WA buys extra capacity to to cope with the increased demand.

Redafrica and other special accounts can not be upgraded to pro packages etc
On a side note to pay double for the pro packaged I feel is a total rip off - others are paying it and must therefore feel it is worthwhile
 
It is unclear to me if it will now be cheaper and/or more effective to move from Home Uncapped to a 50Gb capped from WebAfrica?
 
I am very happy - I can recommend WebAfrica to non-technical users again! My problem with the old packages was not price but the fact that it made buying ADSL super complicated. I suddenly had to ask people "When will you be surfing the internet?" instead of just recommending a thumb-suck package and get them to upgrade or downgrade. I do not want to get into the "to get best value for money please youtube only after xx:xx and let the kids do normal homework surfing during the day." discussions.

I think people seriously underestimate how intimidated non-technical users can be by ADSL. I suspect a lot of people just get wireless because it is easy and not that intimidating to get it.

WebAfrica - next step please ... One-Click ADSL. Just one button on your webpage which anybody can press. And then organize everything for them. Get telkom to install a line if required. Organize somebody to babysit Telkom when they are installing a line (as they are to incompetent to organize fixed timeslots and keep them). Get them the best package with auto-upgrade and auto-downgrade.

Not because people are lazy ... just intimidated. And I know it is a lot to ask -- but that would be SUPER AWESOME to get one-click ADSL. I am sick of trying to explain people why ADSL is a real option - I mostly just tell them to get wireless these days. I am sure the One-Click option will ensure you more customers as well!
