Big ADSL value boost by Web Africa

This is a great move by Web Africa - effectively cutting per-GB prices to well under R10 on some packages.

Wicked one WA.

Will the Red Africa accounts also benefit from this?

Hi Everyone,

Great to see you guys are loving the new pricing! To answer some of the questions you currently have:

Red Africa accounts currently have anytime data and won't be affected by this change - Unless you referring to the Download Plus which remains as is.

I would use these if I could do more than 4 concurrent connections but nice price drop from WA :)
All our Home packages currently have 4 concurrent connections. When we first launched connect, we dropped it to 1 but soon realised that it was a bad move and bumped it back up to 4!

WAJeff Should be up and online bright and early to give you guys the low down and follow up with any queries you should have!

Thanks

Nice pricing, but too bad I already switched to MWEB Uncapped. Been waiting for pricing like this from WA for over a year. Glad I switched to uncapped though.

Well done WA, this is much better than the whole peak/off-peak thing!

Nice move from webafrica! 2GB is now the same price at afrihost. Just one thing that bugs me...

02GB @ R14.50/GB
05GB @ R15.80/GB
10GB @ R14.90/GB
25GB @ R09.56/GB
50GB @ R07.98/GB

The per GB price of 2GB is cheaper for the 2GB package than the 5/10GB package.

April fools? hope not :)

That would be a low blow, you don't joke around with pricing.

Hi Everyone,

I looked at your business accounts and they seem to also be limited to 4 concurrent connections, Afrihost offers 10 concurrent connections on their accounts which is what I use for my international bandwidth needs.

I have a couple of high cap accounts from Afrihost that I use in a pooled setup for my clients so I can get the most out of the cap instead of having a bunch of accounts (one per client) and wasting a couple of gigs of cap on one account and having to topup on another.

I guess the above mentioned way of doing things is better for me as I have less wasted cap at the end of the month but not ideal for ISP's as they are hoping people won't utilize all their cap.

I wonder if we can expect any new pricing from Afrihost after the IPC price cuts ?

I'm pretty sure they'll be announcing in the next week or so.

Personally I prefer higher speed 24/7 v uncapped with low speeds in the day, so I would like to trade my 1 Meg uncapped for a 50GB account that offers full speeds all day - for R250 per month. Wayne De Nobrega (?) suggested higher cap accounts a few months ago but he was flamed on this forum, but I tend to agree with him.

Also, I wish Telkom can upgrade 1 Meg to 4 Meg, as well as offer 10 to 20 Meg in most areas.

I don't need to download the entire internet. 50GB is enough on 1 Meg line for now. 100GB or 200GB for HD video (20 Meg line) from Q3 2013

Am I missing something? I still get the same amount of data, I can just use it any time instead of off peak?

That is not a nice attitude to have.

Why do the negative thing first, only to change it when you get hammered?

yup my thoughts exactly. I don't how this benefits me currently as I hardly used the web during the day anyway. Woopy doo

This is good start, when I read the headline was holding thumbs that this would include the red africa special :crying: .Still nice for the other guys already on those pakages.
Now to see what the other guys come up with.

Did the drop in IPC pricing influence this, or was this price drop planned beforehand?

I guess i'm wondering if we will see further drops in the near future once the IPC price drop comes into effect.

Either way, well done WA, its a fantastic change.
