Big ADSL value boost by Web Africa

My current 50GB account is 10GB any time and 40 GB off peak. Off peak being 7pm to 7am weekdays, and all weekend...? So no, I can't actually use more data really.

It seems i forgot about the difference between offpeak on regular accounts and offpeak on redafrica, which i am on. :) It might not be better for you, but its a huge improvement for those who need the gigs outside of offpeak.

Hopefully they will do something with the uncapped accounts.

This is great for new customers but not so much for existing customers.

I'm not around to use the connection during the day, so I find that I run out of off-peak first and then end up using my anytime allocation in off-peak times anyway. So I'd wager this is a no-change for most home users.

(Hopefully it will ease a bit of congestion in the evenings though!)

This.

Though I have not noted any congestion to be honest.

I'd rather see more off-peak bandwidth. 10gb of peak time is more than double what I survived with the whole day before I cancelled dstv.

You are correct, the 2GB package and the 25GB package are discounted for the first three months. Existing customers who upgrade also benefit from this promotion though :)

Thank you. However, when I one goes to upgrade via the user area the price R299 is selected for the 25GB package. Will billing handle the promo price or is this a mistake? Thanks.

But it's aimed at home users. How many home users are big daytime consumers?

you forget about the millions still in college and school.
anyway put it on to download before you go to work.
no more juggling times with download managers.

I'm still going to question how you burn through 10GB never mind 50GB as a home user unless you're doing heavy downloading which is NOT interactive anyway, and will hurt the interactive experience if it happens while people are awake and browsing etc?

Technically, you are seeing more off-peak usage. Your peak usage has been allocated to your off-peak usage, if that makes sense at all?
Instead of being limited to the data you use during certain hours, now you can just use your monthly data whenever you need.

I'm sure our Billing Department will be able to sort something out for you :)
Give them a call before upgrading to confirm the correct pricing on the account.

This is why WA should be the best SA ISP ... awesome service and the prices are catching up 2 :}

@WAJeff / WANick

For those of us on the RED Africa special you guys had does that mean we get 130GB anytime?

None whatsoever.
If I used ZERO during peak time and only went off-peak, then when my 40gig of off-peak was used, I'd start using my any-time 10GB. That's what any time means... ;)

Just to confirm for the RedAfrica account guys - these accounts have 100GB's of Download Plus and 30GB's of anytime usage. This differs from Peak/ Off-Peak.

Where does the 10GB anytime usage come in? The old Home Connect packages are the ones that have been improved here, none other. These accounts have xGB's peak and xGB's off-peak, no anytime usage was included.

I have home connect 50. Is that a different product to what you're referring to?
On saturday, I used up all my off peak bandwidth, and my "peak" cap started getting used.

See also the wording on my usage meter today:

Usage Summary (April 2012) Last updated: 2nd April 2012 at 09:04 AM
Anytime used:
0% (3.40 MB of 10 GB)

I can't see last months stats on the usage meter :/

Your package had 10GB peak and 40GB's off-peak usage.
PM me your client code so I can double check your DSLConsole on our side, could have either been there by default, because you bought additional GB's or you've only noticed after last night when the changes went live.

I honestly don't see this as a price reduction .. yes the download times have changed but if you look at the tables you still get 10gig for the same price now as you did before. Where's the saving?

Frankly, saying you paid for only 2 gigs @ R74.50 and you got 8 free is a bit of a spin to make the new (same) price/gb look better. It's still 10 before vs 10 after at the same price, whoop-dee-doo!

Well done webafrica finaly something worth while :D . I just took the 50Gb account the price is R399 per month, no changing of the price in 3 months like the 25Gb account?

From a usage point of view, the 1Mbps line with the uncapped option lets you get about 45GB a month without going out of the thresholds. Even then you can go over the thresholds to what ever WA decides is acceptable and not abuse.

So you are looking at 50GB+ on Uncapped for R289.

Why would anyone go for the capped 50GB for R399 option? (or even the 25GB for R299 - uncapped is just much cheaper?)

Ok - so now tell me - when will this change show in our "Client Services" area online? At the moment mine is still split into "Anytime" and "Offpeak". Shouldn't this merge into one big "Anytime" package now? e.g. atm - 5G on Anytime and 20G on Offpeak should merge into 25G Anytime?
