Big Afrihost ADSL problems

I usually don't buy any of the explanations offered. They think we are idiots all the same, and think the answer is too technical for us.

But they all do this, even Crystalweb does... they won't tell you what is really wrong, its is a STAATSGEHEIM...
They either think that if we somehow knew what was really wrong, we will all turn into l33t h@x0rs and use the exploit, or they think we will somehow do something... I mean really... the paranoia drives me crazy.

I'm hoping it's not going to a ant-net neutrality situation. Seems like he is saying something along the lines of that which i find a bit worrying.. I purchase large block accounts from them so from my pov, I expect the service to be the same irrespective of time of day as this is what i pay for.. if i paid for uncapped then there would be shaping based on time of day. In experience tho.. i find Afrihost network to suffer every so often no matter how often i restart my ADSL router meh.. but thankfully it hasnt caused me too much issues as its at home and i know the network(Telkom) is congested in my area.

Anyway.. just hoping they not going to slap on service restrictions on capped accounts as then i will be leaving

No shaping processes will be/ have been changed :)

Demand has grown rapidly, but no, it hasn't been overnight :)
We've had multiple IPC upgrades over the years but this didn't seem to be enough, this is why we're moving onto our next option.

Yet last week, on this forum you told me it wasn't IPC....

So which was a lie, that, or this.
Ag you know what.. f**k it...

I think you may have taken my post out of context. I'm not saying this is an IPC issue.
A lot of this has already been answered and discussed over on Gian's thread though.

Pure internet crap!

Spoke to a colleague i once setup an Afrihost account for, they said the only reason they are still with AH is the cost (seems they are that cheap to put up with problems instead of paying for what they deserve)

I can assure you that's something we're working really hard on changing! We'll get the speed back :)

WHEN???

Tomorrow? Next month, next year?

I'd love to give you an answer, there are no timeframes at this stage.
As I said earlier though, we're open to communication and will continue to update everyone as progress is being made.

This is really worrying. I understand committing to a date and not meeting is a bad idea, but paying R700 for a business 4mb account that can barely do 120p youtube streams seems a bit excessive...

Good Lord.. how do you remain in business???
If I had to tell my boss, "Uh boss, I don't have any timeframes", I'd be FIRED!!!

Hence Afrihost, you are FIRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEDDDD!!!!

I think we've made every effort to be open about what's happening, and we'll gladly continue an open discussion with yourself and anyone else - but let's try and keep things civil.

Again, I fully understand that you're frustrated by the situation - but posting messages like you have above both a) makes it hard to engage with you and b) won't quicken the processes we have. Implementing something like this takes time. We'll keep everyone updated on the progress as it happens.

Fully understand, but I don't think dates can be discussed at this stage. It's very early in it's conceptualisation.
Once some dates are confirmed they'll be communicated. Remember, this only got confirmed here yesterday - so while we fully understand the urgency, we don't want to commit to a date only to let everyone down.

No more MTN for me tyvm; makes me wonder though, how Afrihost still have min capacity when people are jumping ship? CrystalWeb running out of capacity I understand as they got #1 recently so experienced a massive upsurge in registrations etc...

I definitely think there is room to improve for us, there always is :)

I don't think I mentioned that Business is shaped in my responses above?

Well I'm not getting unshaped, prioritized business bandwidth (otherwise I would get my full 40Mb/s download speeds - if you go to my account and have a look), but still you expect me to fork out R2799 a month for a product which does not deliver because you have a problem... In what world is this correct!?
