Maybe they violated parole. Also, not all prisoners in the awaiting trial prisons is awaiting trial. Some, sentenced with less than 2 years, is also kept in the smaller prisons.

Yeah, I feel aggrieved having to wait longer than 20 minutes in a Q at the local post office. I can't imagine the frustration of sitting in jail for 5 years waiting on a trial...??

It's fine if the awaiting trial prisoners are guilty. The 5 years already spent incarcerated comes off the total time specified in their sentence but what if they found not guilty????!!!! What if they found guilty and sentenced to 3 years? They've already served 5. Are they compensated? What happens when an innocent person is killed while awaiting trial? Pause for a moment and think about how long 5 years actually is.

I find this totally unbelievable, shocking and disgusting.
