Biggest ADSL ISPs revealed

So roughly we have 800k subscribers instead of the 600k usually put forward? Even accounting for 1 in 5 going for a blended solution (optimistic) the number's still off by almost 100k. Methinks a company is lying to save face.

That 200k wholesale of IS should not be on the list? Those figures then gets repeated by the other ISPs that offer their solutions?

OpenWeb is so small? Eish. Here I thought they were one of the biggest.

Internet Solutions (wholesale) 230,000 - so the wholesale market is really important to them. Pity their product offering sometimes lags behing imo.

MWEB 150,000 - expected with all their marketing.

Axxess 70,000 - well done Axxess (probably a large chunk of the IS wholesale figure)

Web Africa 30,000 - i thought this would be more

Afrihost 30,000 - thought they would have more too...

FNB Connect 20,000 - surprised at how many ADSL clients a BANK can scoop...

Openweb 5,600 - lagging behind a bit...

What about Neotel? I would have liked to see how they stack up against the rest...:erm:

Agreed. That was the most shocking one for me. Second would be Cybersmart... hello, REALLY didn't think they were bigger than Openweb or SAINET.

Surprising figures. Expected Afrihost, Webafrica and Openweb to be higher.

It is quite a mission not to get telkom.... if you ask them to install your line.

The lady at telkom direct cound`t understand that I just want the adsl line rental, and not their ISP crap.
When they installed my line, the techie gave me a router... out of the box, no manual included. already set-up for telkom`s ISP.

They are not playing fair.

wow, it is amazing how very few people are actually connected via ADSL. If you take our population size I wonder what is the actual market size of people able to afford connectivity? Would be interesting to know this.

Another interesting development is how Vodacom will do in the consumer ADSL market and how aggresively they will be marketing it? It would also be interesting to see how many new ADSL lines are actively being installed every month and by how much the ADSL market is growing? If the growth rate is not very high, then Vodacom will have to be cut throat to lure the existing ADSL subs away from the other ISP's.

Mmm i am not impressed with the offerings. Mostly aimed at lower end or higher end packages and not much for middle users. These numbers are deceiving
