Yeah yeah...flame me all you want. I purchased Bioshock for PC yesterday since I don't really have anything to play while waiting for Diablo 3. I guess I was expecting something similar to Doom, F.E.A.R, Half-Life, or even the great Oblivion but to my surprise (after reading all the reviews) all I got in return was everything I never liked in a FPS based game.

Luckily I'm not one of those players who just says a game sucks without any reasons. Firstly I don't really like the mouse control (I'm playing the PC version) as it's not as accurate as most FPS games. I tried to set the sensitivity but it seems to be a game related problem. Secondly I keep on getting lost (maybe I have problems reading the weird map provided, I dunno) but I actually found myself running around in the medical area for about 30mins with no idea of where to go. The enemies also have this tention to pop out of nowhere even though they're not spawing or something. I'll look behind me and see nothing, then take a few steps and wham!, something hits me from behind which is really annoying.

The 5.1 feature sucks in comparison with Doom/Quake 4 since it shifts the whole enviromental area and not your position. For example, I hear radio playing infront of me, I turn around and it's dead silent, turn around again and I hear it.

The story is rather confuzing and does not grab my attention in any way. I also don't like the idea of wasting time searching bodies on the floor for items (why can't they just drop them?). Maybe I'm weird but I guess it's different strokes for different folks and I'm just that guy who has to disagree with the Bioshock reviews on this one. After playing about 4 hours I decided to just exit the game for good and not even bother completing it. Pity I did not try the demo first.

Oh well, back to Diablo 2 for me...

I agree as well DarkWater, Bioshock didn't really do anything for me compared to other major FPS's like HL2, FEAR etc

The whole noir setting of the game wasn't to my liking...played it for about 30min, then uninstalled it.

But each his own, you either love it or you don't.. :)

Got to a part where you're supposed to kill little girls and babies, so thought I'd give that a miss.

Oops :o

I played the demo and found it okay. Not quite up to the standard I expected. Was impressed with the optimization though. I might buy it as a budget buy in the future

Yeah that put me off quite a bit. As far I know you don't have to kill them though

Also Agree.Biosshock just really sucked, Reminded me of a 3dish fallout.
At the moment I'm playing God Of War Chains of Olympus. Love the series

I see u live in Cape town darkwater .... can I buy your copy please ;-)
seeing that u dislike it so ... how about a nice discount

I am actually serious though ... please pm me ^^

Killing babies? I don't remember that ...... though it has been a few months since playing. Maybe the xbox version was better because I enjoyed it fully :D

Didn't like it the first time around either to be honest. I'm enjoying it a lot more the second time. Weird.

I also found Bioshock boring, but for different reasons.

It feels like System Shock 2, with better graphics but just about everything else simplified.

The storyline is mostly rehashed from SS2. Just about all of the plot point appear in SS2 as well, although the order is somewhat different.

The powers was interesting. However, getting it in the correct quick key order was excruciating. Whenever you upgraded or exchanged powers, it changed all of your quick keys.

Inventory is over-simplified. In SS2, you had an inventory space, where you had larger and smaller items, just like Deus Ex. In Bioshock all can just pick everything up without worrying about space. I also never found the key that lets you actually view what is in your inventory, but with the unlimited space, I never needed to either.

I totally agree! This game was totally overrated.

I Was really disappointed with it.

well either 1) you chaps love kark games :p or 2) the PC version really sucks ....... pick one :D

Nah! It was more like the Xbox players where just hungry for a FPS.

Has FPS goes for the PC - Bioshock was just mediocre, it was nothing special.

I was actually glad it wasn't just another HL2, Doom, Quake, etc ...... at least it tried a different direction ..... maybe from the second one we'll see it polished a bit :D

Sorry to go off topic.

But Mass Effect wasn't that special either, better then Bioshock but reviewers went overboard with it. With one of the reviewers saying 'The best story ever told in a video game, period'. Story was nothing special.

I love the freakin game, I am currently playing it on the pc.

I love the noir setting, as well as the entire environment. I have my sound on surround and it is awesome, all the background chatter can really creep you out.

Killing babies??? Sorry, have not found that part yet, I know of the little girls running around, but I have not killed one of them.

If you are looking for a FPS with no story line, then this is not your game
