BitCo Consumer Review

I don't think swapping one wireless for another will do you much better. I'm looking in to ADSL again. Sad year for me.

Hi Gezza,

You are one of very few customers who are experiencing issues with our connections with online gaming. Please can we try together to go through a process of elimination and see what is causing this issue

I assure you if we can fix it we will gladly remove your connection at no cost

But before we go down that road i would like to investigate as i personally know of more than 100 customers playing online gaming without any issues whats so ever.

We have 2 high sites on our network whereby certain sides of the high site are affected by terrible radio interference, we have successfully solved a few other users but need to see where you are, what your distance is and run some very high level tests on the link.

Please pop me a PM with your Name and surname so i can find you on the network?

Mike

I have sent you a PM. Thanks

Hi Garth & Mike, with all the new towers being set up, is there any chances that Mooikloof Ridge have line of sight even if its not on the coverage map?

Hi NightCrawlerNic,

Our closest two towers to you are Faerie Glen and Dooring Kloof but looks like you are just outside of coverage

Can you PM me your exact address and let me check distance and elevation

Mike

Sorry for the Repost BitCo, seems you missed my post earlier?

Hi.

A friend of mine is possibly looking at getting BitCo, but he lives literally 1km outside of the coverage area.

Right next to Die Poort Laerskool

What are the chances that the wireless may work there? or how do we go about possibly getting a highsight nearer?

First off i shall say great service from bitco from the point of requesting a quote, to them coming out to perform the LOS. The installation went perfect and now the soaking period has begun.

My link was installed on Wednesday and the tech said it takes 24 to 48 hours to soak the link?

A lady from bitco however says it will take a whole week to soak the link?

1. I do understand that it takes time to test the link and make sure its 100% but why a whole week? Also does soaking take place during weekends aswell?

2. I game alot in the evenings mainly battlefield 4. When the soak period is over will the link be optimized for my gaming or will further adjustments need to be made?

Thanks and once again great service and a pleasure dealing with bitco.

Anybody with BitCo in Weltervreden park? If so, how is it?

After about a month break from online games, I fire up CSGO tonight with great anticipation, 5 minutes later I exit the game, because packet loss sitting at a pretty 10-20%, rubber banding all over, same **** different day it seems, ah well the universe is pushing me to do more productive things it seems:D

3G and ADSL se moer..........guys if you have got LOS(confirmed by Bitco) and no Fresnel interference i really recommend Bitco.

Gaming - Excellent(no lag,no rubber banding)
Video Streaming - Excellent (up to 4K with 30 second pause when starting video)
Torrent and Application Download - Excellent
Skype - Excellent
Browsing - Bloody Fast

What about huge game downloads? I hear star citizen is going to be 100gigs big when it is finished.

So I've got this dilemma. I'm currently using Afrihost LTE and it's serving me well but of course I'm stuck with a relatively small cap. The speeds are great though.

Bitco's 5mb option is about R400 per month more expensive that I'm paying now and also a lot slower. However I don't have to worry about my cap when I want to watch Twitch streams or download a Steam game.

So I was thinking of installing an LTE antenna but I don't want to do that should Bitco have any price changes soon. I know this is probably a tough question for Bitco, but will you guys be having any price changes in the next couple of month? I'm sure I saw something like that mentioned in the beginning of the year but then only one plan was removed and the other two stayed the same.

I really don't want to commit to LTE should Bitco maybe drop their prices.

Should be no issues on that, leaky bucket syndrome is more of an issue than the amount of data you use!

Okay, I decided to give Bitco a try. I filled in the quote page now. I got permission from our body corporate but will still need to get the form from Bitco and hope for line of sight. There's a lot of huge trees to the one side of us. We are surrounded by towers though.

I just hope I'm not one of the unlucky ones with gaming problems. But we will get to that when we get to that.

HI NightCrawlerNic,

Unfortunately we haven't got any plans for a tower in that direction at the moment

we haven't had much uptake or requests that side of PTA but will keep you posted if we plan something

Hi Peder,

Looks like your friend is about 9KM from our closest high site so just falls out of range :-(

we don't have plans for that area yet but will keep you posted if anything changes

We are busy building out of PTA via Laudium towards Hartbeespoort dam then back into Rustenburg so we have a redundant route into that region

Regards,

Hi Cal384,

The Soak test is basically a full test of the link using sophisticated software, our technical team will run your link at 100% capacity for around 72 Hours.

if the link is 100% perfect you will get early hand over but if we find issues the technical team makes changes and then starts the soak again

Typically soak takes 2-3 days but can certainly take up-to 7 days if adjustments need to be made.

if you haven't received handover yet PM me your name and ill check out whats happening for you

Hi Jimmy,

We have over 100 residential customers in and around Weltervrenden park, services are really solid in this area as we have Towers all around

It does seem to be a challenging area because of the large trees and hills all around but definitely worth a try if you looking for solid high speed connectivity.
