Thanks Pit.You have nothing but praises for them. I have been following the thread, subscribing to bitco was an easy decision. I'm 1.6 km from the high site and signal strength apparently is -49db. not sure if i heard the correctly good mannered and professional techies bitco sent.

Congrats and welcome to a new age of internet :)
I'm extremely happy with them. Wikkels on the other hand seems to be struggling

Just struggling with lag/desync when it come to online gaming, downloads, twitch and general internet use works perfectly...Although I have to mention I do get the occasional connection drop a couple of times a week for a few minutes that I notice in the evening at least, might be more as I'm not behind my pc 24/7, but I suppose thats the norm with any ISP, they do after all only guarantee 99% uptime IIRC

If my connection drops I will be allocated a new IP. Then I need to update my IP on unotelly. This has happened twice now since my inception with them. You might be looking at it with a bigger magnifying glass than mine  But please keep me posted on the updates. To me it's about the service they deliver. I don't care if I have problems, just that they are sorted when I pick them up and ask. Lucky as mentioned I have had no problems yet. Touch wood.

You are not going to believe me, I have never updated my IP on unotelly since I put it in more than 2 months ago... I'm starting to wonder if I have a static IP.

I know I do, when logging into the modem, it has selected Static IP instead of Automatic.

Are we only throttled for P2P? I'm busy watching youtube on my PS3, and I have been throttled to half speed :(

Hi Murmaider

You are 100% correct. You have a static IP address. All of our services have static IP addresses.

Morning Oliverwww

Please can you PM me your full name so we can investigate. There is a possibilty something in the background is using your link. You won't get throttled unless something has been downloading for a while.

Hmmmmm... I have NOT had a very good experience with BitCo so far and I haven't even got my line yet. Two very friendly helpful technicians came on wednesday, confirmed LOS and began the install. Unfortunately the wall they wanted to mount the dish onto had about 8cm of plaster on it so the bolts would not hold the bracket, the technicians did not want to install it like that which is fair enough, I then went up onto the roof myself and drilled several holes before I found a suitable place on that wall, they came back the next day (Thursday) and said it still wasn't strong enough. I was told they would come back the following day after I chopped out a chunk of that wall to get to the concrete where the bolts would hold but they never showed up, more calls and emails plus a PM to Garth yielded barely half a response. Eventually I was told that they were not coming, and to phone on Monday (today) I'm not really fazed by this because it was a Friday afternoon. As well as chopping a considerable hole in my wall, I also rerouted the cable which took it through a roof to get to my study on Friday morning in anticipation of technicians arriving. I phoned bitco again this morning after the weekend and was told I have to pay another R800 installation fee before they will come back to my house, not only is this exessive considering half the installation is already complete. It's also not logical. I would end up paying double. I explained to the lady who I spoke to on the phone about my situation who then passed the massage on to the director, hoping for them to relax the price a bit considering I had basically completed the wiring installation for them, I found the directors response "we did not ask you to do all that work, the technicians would have done it anyway. The extra R800 will not change" very rude.

I'm quite disappointed about this after reading and hearing so much good information about BitCo.

Hi hi1pie

I believe your installation has been unusual as the feedback I've received from our infrastructure department is that your wall is not structurally sound and if we had to mount the pole on the wall in question it would eventually fall off.

The team has been back on 3 separate occasions to check if it is suitable to install and each time they said the wall is still not strong enough. I am sure you can understand that we cannot install if the wall is not strong enough.

Hi Garth

The team was only here twice, and the problem with the wall has been sorted
There must be some confusion somewhere if is says the team has been here 3 times.

Unfortunately I was a tad too far from the tower from which I had LOS, so no go.

Did eventually go for the Neotel Wimax - altenative for people not in Bitco range...

The coverage map is not working from me via my work connection. Can someone please check if there is coverage in Cassia Avenue, Arcon Park, Vereeniging?

Wow that sucks.

But let's be honest here though. They come to your place twice and tried to do the installation. And they should be scared driving there for a 3rd time and might not have success again. You would have charged a call out fee if you where them right?

That being said, if you are 100% sure it can be fitted now, pay the R 800.00 as it's well worth it I can promise you that. I does suck though, any idea why your wall was plastered that thick?
