BitCo Consumer Review

Wow great to have Bitco back up and running here! was getting alittle worried:p

Hey Mike, i'm really curious if you guys wouldn't be able to conduct a re-site survey at my place?
the reason i ask is that a couple days ago i was browsing through my documents and found a screenshot of the coverage map i saved not long before the site survey was done here, so now i got curious if any new towers had been put up since my survey and looking at the screenshot to the current coverage map theres 2 new high sites!! but how could i know if those were there when my site survey was done? while i looked at the date of the screen and crossed checked the date with some pics i took when they did the site survey and found they were 15 days apart!?! Now i'm REALLY itching for another test to see if i can finally ditch 'ol terribly slow iBurst!!!!

here is the download speed. Nothing else is running at moment. Pls tell me what is the official throttle value on a 5mbps line and also on a 10mbps line just incase I might consider upgrading. tx

Hi Blackmax,

On our 5Mbps line wont get throttled to less than 2Mbps and our 10Mbps line wont get throttled to less than 5Mbps.

Hope that helps, feel free to PM us if you need anymore info.

Jarryd

Quick one as it was mentioned before, what is the process should we want to upgrade our line, and how long does that process usually take?

Also: what if i want to test a 10MB line from a 5MB before i upgrade. Can this be done ?

Okay so Mike from Bitco contacted me, and for the first time in like a month a spoke to someone from their side that can actually see there's problem, apparently the high site I'm connected too has a large amount of radio interference from illegal operators, and thats whats causing the packet loss, so they're going to change the frequency of my equipment or alternatively move me to a different high site, glad you're back Bitco:)
My issue still exists. I have provided them with video footage of gameplay, and you can see exactly what happens. Still haven't heard a word in around 2-3 weeks.

Hi Cavman,

i have sent you a PM regarding your requirement for re-survey

ok so let me just quantify what your saying, on a 5mbps line when throttled, it drops to below 50% but on a 10mbps line the link doesnt drop below 50%? So it seems to me that Bitco is nudging consumers to rather go for the 10 mbps?

Doesnt seem right to me, anyway someone else from Bitco is contradicting what your saying. Here is an exact copy from our corespondence (sorry its in Afrikaans) - his reply to basicly the same question...

If a 10 meg line throttles to 5 meg then the speed should be 625 kb/s.

Remember to take into account overheads, a safe bet would be 10% as overheads therefore the real world speed you would experience doing a speed test from your desktop would be roughly 562 KB/s.

Time to test Bitco in this electrifying storm ;) So far, so good.. Well done Bitco! Couldn't be happier :D

Hi guys,

First time poster on this forum... ;)
I have heared of Bitco from a few co workers who has it, and they say its awesome... Now my question, I live in Valhalla Pretoria. From where would they get LOS in this region.? And yes I have neighbours with a billion trees :(

Think it's towards the Voortrekker Monument. Should be north east from you. Check the Coverage map. Should be in the middle of the circle servicing your area

Hi Blackmax,

as mentioned in one of my previous posts we are always working to optimize our Home broadband offering and our current FUP is under review

I will post an update towards the end of this week regarding tweaks to the FUP
