I would disagree on the throttling on streaming(Only use 480p on YT and standard def on Netflix) and it's always throttled.

I don't see that on my 5Mbps line. Stream mostly 720p, about 3 hours into the movies now and still not throttled. Maybe Bitco can give you a more detailed report as to why it's throttled?

Do you stream more than 1 thing at a time? I'm alone at home so only ever 1 stream going at a time.

I get the same on my side, i am going to do some testing with koeksGHT and see what bandwidth his link uses when watching.

i have a feeling that different devices use bandwidth differently, i'm watching on my Samsung Smart TV in 720p and hardly using much bandwidth on my link and haven't hit any Throttle.....

So i just recently got the Bitco 5mbps package. Something that concers me is that i dont get the advertised speed. Sure its close to 5mbps but not spot on. Someone will probably argue that there are overheads ontop of the packets being sent so technically it is 5mbps. But wouldnt it be more pro-customer for them to rather give just over 5 mbps .Well either that or Bitco isnt supplying a full 5mbps. And i was under the impression that when you get throttled that your speed is halved. My speed drops to about 220 kilobytes/s. That isnt half. 310kb/s would be half. And as 100 odd kb/s might sound trivial ,downloading a game patch that is rather large then it starts adding up. +1 to whomever said throttling should start after 2 hours.

Thanks for the message, would you mind to post a speed test result as you should receive the full 5Mbps on your line which should be 620kbps.

We are constantly working to refine our product offering and are looking into ways of tweaking the FUP so your suggestion above will be taken into consideration.

I just want to mention as well: Yesterday for the first time I started getting that loading thing on Netflix around midway into watching a series and it would happen on every episode. It has never happened before so I can't put it on my connection. Maybe the router just needs a restart .

To touch on the topic of downloads/throttling and so on. I mainly got the Bitco solution for gaming (I'm not a big downloader at all) Once I had it I got Netflix. Now even with my being throttled and still streaming my gaming experience doesn't change at all. Thus I have no issues. I think the problem people are experiencing mainly are regarding the throttling with bigger downloads? There has been a user here that has them 2Mbps connection and once hitting throttle his streaming keeps buffering. In such events I think maybe a port solution or streaming priority would work? Not saying people who stream should not get throttled, but once throttled should still get 2Mbps for Netflix as an example? But downloads still throttled at 1Mbps?

Anyway, just a thought.

O and did I say I'm glad you guys are back?

Okay so Mike from Bitco contacted me, and for the first time in like a month a spoke to someone from their side that can actually see there's problem, apparently the high site I'm connected too has a large amount of radio interference from illegal operators, and thats whats causing the packet loss, so they're going to change the frequency of my equipment or alternatively move me to a different high site, glad you're back Bitco

Mine also hangs around 4.8 - 4.9 on Speedtest.net

When I'm throttled it's 2.4 - 2.6 it varies between those.

That would be good to know, then in theory one could set up port limits on ones router?
