BitCo Consumer Review

Hi Charlie600,

Thanks for the post

Can you possibly PM us with any services / ports you are having an issue with?

We test most games and ensure they are in the highest priority queue but we do sometimes miss certain releases

if you can PM us the details i can ask technical to check ports and buy the game to test on our network

Mike

Hi Mike,

Everything is running smoothly from last night onwards - thanks nonetheless for taking the time in order to respond on a public forum like this, I once again realise why I went the Bitco route! :D

Hi Mike,

I send you a PM this morning but no response from Bitco.

I take it I leave the equipment at current location. Movers are here from around 9 till about 11am. That is the last then handing over the keys to the agent.

I would suggest taking the Switch and the router with you?
They can remove the dish at their own time. However they will require the switch and the router at your new location if they do find LOS. Would be pretty careless of you to leave the switch and the router in an empty house though.

Thanks Pitbull. I would have taken that with me, but I do not see it as careless when one is trying to arrange something for around 2months already.

I am an existing customer!!! not a new one!

Bit peeved with Bitco... Always complained about packet loss in League of Legends. Now I just got disconnected from a 3 hour zombie game (i know :wtf:) due to connection (packet loss)... Bitco needs to get its act together..

It has been 2 months since I joined the Bitco network and........ on the one side of the fence i'm relatively satisfied, however on the other side i'm .......hesitant,i've got this feeling that something is going on with the Bitco network. 1st Month of the service was nothing short of perfect, gaming, p2p,streaming, etc all can be put on a pedestal of champions.

However, lately peculiar and strange things have been happening, for eg Gaming...the game loads everything works as it should but when you actually leave the lobby to move into the game, the game hangs, first of all I thought it was the BF4 servers however when i checked the real time bandwidth analyser on the router there would throughput right up until you moved into the game and then nothing.I checked the NAT, I checked that all the necessary ports were still forwarded and all is good, nothing has been changed since the date of installation, it gave me this impression that the connection would just disappear at the point of transition. Streaming has been buffering, the speedtests have been strong during the day, stable and consistent however at night you get one test result below average then you get 2 normal results so on and so forth. The tests are being done on speedtest.net and MyBB Speedtest and the same ireegularities occur on both test platforms which are done with a LAN connection direct to router with no other devices connected.

There are to many small irregularities occurring on the Bitco Network and it scares me to think that if it is a sign for things to come and i say this from past experiences with other ISP.It starts off with 1 or 2 little problems then all hell breaks loose.

However i am holding thumbs and hoping that Bitco prove me wrong.

http://www.speedtest.net/results.php?sh=e0b322c3e84c44be805600bea36b2741&ria=0

Notice the constant heart beat on the graph above then from the 23 of April 2015 then BITCO decides to have a heart attack night after night?

.......to be continued

I've been having the same problems with my Bitco line. Cant connect to any servers on BF4 or Hardline on PS4 and if it does it just hangs on the loading screen. Everything else seems to be working just fine... I've been trying to tell them that there firewall must be blocking something but they don't seem to find the problem and feels like nothing is been done about it. Looks like ill be moving back to Telkom as much as i didnt want to, but as much as i hate them i never had these kinda problems with them...................................

I've noticed that the packetloss issues I've been having since forever appear to be at its worst in the early evening 6PM to 10PM, which would be the time where most Bitco home clients are utilizing their connections (I'm assuming) during the day and very late evenings, I'll get a packetloss related spike about every half an hour or so(Which is really not that big of an issue)

But during these peak times it happens like once a minute roughly(This is where I start pulling my hair out)... Now they say that my issue is caused by some radio interference on the high site, but what would be the reason that it happens so much more during peak times, there's no denying that some users have interference on their links, but me thinks the fact that its so much worse during peak times is a direct result of high traffic, in which case I believe there must be something Bitco can do to resolve this issue?

Hi Guys

We have experienced massive up take in specific areas and we are very hard at work increasing backhaul and tower capacity in these areas.

We have also found that a few users have been abusing their links during the early evening with extremely heavy P2P which has been negatively effecting other services on the congested sites. We are busy updating our DPI servers to limit this abuse.

We are also currently busy with a project to increase distribution capacity in the West Rand to 1Gbps which will be able to be upgraded to 10Gbps in the future. This will cater for enough bandwidth for several years into the future.

We apologise for the issues in these areas and are working really hard to resolve them asap.

Hi Garth,

thanks for the update, any ETA's ?

I have noticed my line has been downgraded to 2Mbps?

During the week I assumed with my kids being home I'm throttled at night. However when I ran the test this morning Max line speed is only 1.94mbps? Mike Garth. Please have a look at this? Something is not right.

Mmm I was quite amped as Bitco is coming to my house for preliminary inspection. I'm not so sure I want their 5MB line any longer. Are these troubles a sign of things to come or a temporary setback?

Don't know what happened to my line speed. I'll wait for feedback from bitco. Doubt it has anything to do with seacom. But my speed has definitely gone from 5mbps to 2 mbps. Might just be an error somewhere. I'm still happy with the product. Just the last few days I noticed speed difference and figured maybe it's because the kids were at home sick and getting me capped. So when I got home I would hit speeds of 0.94 or even 0.7 odd. Though might be because they're streaming at the time. This morning I ran a test with nothing on and yep, speed was at 2mbps.

Hi Garth

Thank you for the feedback it is much appreciated.

If there is noticeable abuse on the network in the early evening then there is a simple solution, instead of allowing P2P from 6pm to 6 am in the evening change it to 11pm to 4 am. My 50c....... use it don't use it!

It is excellent to hear that BITCO is looking to the future with regards to there network infrastructure I just hope that demand and saturation doesn't catch you first.

All the best

Can we start a petition to ask Bitco to up the throttled speed to 2.5M? That extra 0.5M would really help a lot, plus it will also be in line with the 10M going to 5M after throttling?

When did this problem start?

The same has been happening to mine, I've been told that they shape our lines during the week and or if you got a download going for longer than an hour your line will be shaped till the download is finished.. they said this could be one of the reasons why Im battling to connect to the servers.. But Im almost certain it isn't the case.

I have no idea. I suspect it was from Monday's maintenance. So it could have been a slip up back end.
On the weekend I still got full speeds.

Has it balanced out yet or are you still having issues?
